Good evening Susan,
We started promptly at 5:00 this evening with 14 in attendance.
Martha delivered the flaming ukulele name tags. They are very nice. Thank you Martha.
We’re still taking orders for t-shirts. Tom did not supply his Venmo account information. We will request that upon his return.
Announcements:
Riverwoods has been postponed due to covid concerns. A new date will be set at some point in the future.
September 7 – We will be meeting at Lauren’s house 46 Northrup Drive, Brentwood, NH. Susan will be updating Meetup. There will be a potluck dinner following practice.
September 10 – A reminder about the art show at the Bradford Common. This is a joint effort between the Seacoast Ukulele Players and the Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Group. The song list has been finalized and was emailed to all members as well as posted on Meetup.
October 13 – Connect55 Concord New Hampshire has invited us back. Details will be posted on Meetup in the near future.
The night started out playing a number of songs that Susan chose at random.
Proud Mary – Susan is to fix the chords to match the timing
Tin Pan Alley Medley – We watched the Austin Ukulele Society video. Susan may be changing the key. She said that she would send out the song sheet which I hope she will edit into a much shorter form. Thank you Noreen for the song suggestion.
Wellerman – possible Snhugfest strum along song.
Cracklin’ Rosie – Susan to clarify the bah bah bahs
I’ve Been Everywhere Man – Susan drafted Tonto into singing this difficult song cold. Tonto would like to thank everyone for their kindness.
At this point Susan left the Meetup for a pressing engagement. In a momentary lack of judgment, she left Jack in charge. Everyone pitched in on two or three songs until suddenly the projector shutdown. When it eventually came back on the computer needed to be shut down to reconnect. At this point a pin was required and that was the end of that.
During the free time Jack talked about possible open mics.
Maria stepped up and showed everyone what she called her “Ode to the Portuguese” strum. Another great lesson. Thank you Maria. Maybe this should become a weekly segment. No pressure Maria.
We ended the night with Jambalaya, the song not the food. The group did a great job playing from memory. Although there appeared to be a lot of lip reading going on.
If anyone has experience in setting up and running a website please let me know. We are at the point that it would be nice to start posting the music online to make it much easier for Susan. She puts in a tremendous amount of time into the music. Anything we can do to lessen the burden would help.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful evening.
Susan, please edit out any of my horrendous mistakes.
Have a great Labor Day weekend,
Jack
