Hi, All,

here is Jack’s latest and greatest!

I am also going to post it on the website, where it will appear under “News”.

Susan

Good late evening Susan,

Another great evening at the Seabrook Library.

We had 18 in attendance.

Susan spoke about the new website and most of the night was spent playing songs from the website. Maria received a lot of praise for her work. Sadly she arrived late and didn’t hear it. The website is at the point where Maria does the brain work, Susan and Jack do the heavy lifting.  We still have a lot of work to do.

Announcements:

Peggy announced that there will be an open mic in Nottingham, New Hampshire October 15th starting at 2:00 p.m. She will be sending more information to Susan.

Salisbury Assisted Living Center – next Wednesday please arrive at 1:00 p.m. If you have an amplifier etc please bring it with you.

Susan is updating the PDF for that performance. She have removed the Tin Pan Alley Medley.  It will be replaced by Heart and Soul as well as 5’2 in the key of F.  If you are attending please update your songs accordingly.

Connect 55 – 10/13 still looking for more people to attend. So far we only have four.

The link for the song list is on Meetup or you can find it directly on the website.

Mash up at the Kingston Rec – 10/15

Atria Newburyport – 10/21 This is a SNHUG event. Please sign up on their Meetup page for the song list is on that page as well. We are looking for some singers.

Concord Senior Center – 11/4 We failed to mention this one. We could use some additional players at this as well

Play Shop at the Kingston Rec – 11/5

Please see the attached poster. The cost is $15 per workshop. You do not have to take both.  Please make your check payable to Amy Conely.  You can give the check to Susan. The Rec is looking for head count so please sign up on Meetup or let Susan know if you’re going to attend.

For those attending any events, please compare your song sheets to the PDF that Susan posts.  This will help ensure that we all have the same version in the same key. This has been problematic a few times in the past.

Additional information for the events is available on the SUP Meetup page.

Most of the night was spent on songs that Susan felt we should practice. Some of them will be used in future events.  You’ll find some unauthorized (not cleared by Susan) songs on our website. If you like any of them, download them now before they are removed.

San Francisco Bay Blues – Susan passed out kazoos for the song and others. Please practice when you have a chance.

Heart and Soul – Key will be changed to G.

We need to thank Ruth for stepping up and showing us how to sing that one troublesome verse. Great job Ruth. We all knew you could do it. (Note from Susan: It was Tin Pan Alley Medley we were going to change the key of – Heart and Soul stayed the same.We also tried changing RIpple to key of C, but we will leave it in G for now.)

Paper Moon – clarification, the intro is the last two lines of the first verse.

Monster Mash – ends with a G chord.  Please feel free to make your favorite monster noises during the ending.

We ask that you bring your books to practice to pencil in changes or corrections. We do not have any confirmed dates yet but at some point we may be forced out onto the library floor.  At that time you will need your music stands and books.  Susan will provide as much notice as possible.

Martha bid us a fond farewell.  She will see us in the spring. We all hope your Florida place was spared.  Thank you for getting us the awesome name tags at a great price. Anyone who has a name tag on order should be receiving them in the next week or so.

We ended the night with three of Jack’s parodies.  Ukulele, Kim Kimmee and Oh Boy.  I have to work on singing the Kim parody.  These parodies and others by Jack, Susan and Tom can be found on our website.  If you have a parody you’d like to share please pass it on. We are also looking for someone to write a fall parody based on Sunny Afternoon.

If you have any comments, questions or corrections. Please forward them to Susan.

Any questions about the website can be sent to me.

Susan please edit is needed. (I did ! But not much.)

Thank you all for being part of this great group,

Jack
