Sup Recap 11/29/2022

Another fine recap from Tonto!!

I look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday! We will go through Christmas songs mostly – see list attached. Final changes need to be made soon.

ALSO,  it is not only someone’s Beatle birthday. Please think of a special song or two for another person too — HINT: Jack and I will be 135 on Saturday. And if anyone is interested in joining us for lunch after practice, we have a place in Seabrook in mind.

I will send out a calendar, but as of right now, we will meet on Dec. 3, 7, 10, (skip the 14th), 17, 21 (performance), 28, and possibly the 31st.

PS if anyone wants to send a message to Martha and Barbara, go to : CaringBridge.com and search for MarthaSmith44

Happy Thursday!!

Keep practicing, we sound great!

Susan

Good dreary evening Susan,

12 hearty souls braved the elements this evening.

Announcements:

We will be meeting this Saturday at the library from 10:00 to 12:00. These additional practices are to help us with the holiday and Lowell songs. This Saturday we hope to finalize our holiday list.

12/21 Holiday open house event at the Seabrook Library.  We will play from 5:00 to 6:00 and then have some time to socialize.   If you plan on playing please arrive early to set up. We will be in the main part of the library.

1/28 Mill #5 Market Lowell

Information on the above events can be found on Meetup as well as Facebook

Keith from SNHUG is looking for videos to post daily during December. They can be a favorite Christmas song, holiday song, any song that has special meaning to you. I believe the Myers gang was the first to submit a video.  Kudos to the gang.

SUP will be making a video at one of our practices. Our initial thought is O, Holy Night

We also ask that you send your positive thoughts, prayers, whatever is best for you to Martha and Barbara.  Martha is making incredible progress. As we all know she is one tough cookie.

Tonight we practiced songs for the holiday event as well as some of the newer songs for Lowell.

Peace On Earth/ Little Drummer Boy – Susan is going to look into changing the key. The song needs work. Please listen the song when you have a chance.

Happy Christmas (War is Over) – This song is getting better each time we play it.

Santa Baby – Jack to add Boom Booms throughout song.  On the last line sing “hurry down the chimney tonight” twice.

Winter Wonderland – remove the E7 from the end of the second to last line

California Dreamin’ – strum one E7 then start singing

Button Up Your Overcoat – That is the advice that Susan gave everyone tonight for the foul weather.  And it is a song that she has added for Lowell. She made it clear that she likes it and everyone else must like it.  Kazoos should be played during the ” boop boop de doop”

Tonto suggested that the second to last verse should be changed from “tum tum” to “bum bum” since the song is referencing sitting on a hornet’s nest, on nails and third rails. Susan will determine if the change is warranted.

For those who will be attending Saturday. We will be playing ” When I’m Sixty-Four”

This song will be dedicated to one of our members.  This is a special day for her. I don’t want to mention any names but her sidekick refers to her as ” Fearless Leader”

Thank you everyone for making the trek this evening. It was great to see everyone and as usual it was a lot of fun.

Stay dry,

Jack
