Sup Recap 1/11/2023

Hi, All –

A little belatedly, here is Jack’s recap from Wednesday. It was a fun practice! So great to see Bev before she travels on Saturday. Thank you once again, Jack, for your faithful note taking!

I am working on our final list for Lowell, in order. I will be sending that out in an email with that along with more info about the event (parking, etc.) over the weekend. Please do sign up if you can join us! We will need to coordinate for rides, etc.

Remember to bring the Lowell list in paper next Wednesday. I will bring extra packets  – it will be a great opportunity to go through all the songs and make sure I haven’t given you old versions, or forgot to note a change we made.

Happy Thursday!

Susan

Good Evening Susan,

Yet another great meetup.

We have 13 and attendance or 12½, according to Marilyn, since Tom came in halfway through.  No worries Tom we’ll take you whenever you get there.

Announcements:

Next Wednesday, the 18th, we will be meeting out on the floor. Please bring paper and stands. Susan will have the PDF on the website and a link to it in Meetup prior to that practice.

Anyone who is intending on going to Lowell please sign up. Keep in mind that all skill levels are welcome. If you have the urge to play out, we welcome you.

We have a few songs that need some tweaking:

Night The Drove Old Dixie Down – drop the last Am on the final chorus and one strum on the final Am in the song

Moonshadow – on the chopping block

Cover of the Rolling Stone – It appears that the group prefers the SNHUG version.

End of the line – scrap the intro we will start with a few C chords.  At the end repeat “going to the end of the line” slowly.

Wellerman – Tom and Jack to repeat the last line acapella

Crazy Little Thing Called Love – It appears that we will be using the intro but only playing it twice instead of four times. Tom will do a walk down from G to transition us out of the acapella into the next verse.  Lauren did an excellent job drumming us into that as well. Unfortunately Lauren will not be with us in Lowell. Maybe Meghan will step up. No pressure.

Some excitement: We had an uncharacteristic outburst from Don after one of our songs. I believe it was Sea Cruise. He was so swept up in it that he wanted to dance with somebody. He said he couldn’t because we all had ukuleles. Bev more or less told him that really wasn’t an excuse.

We finished off the evening with our usual Jambalaya only with a twist. Marilyn changed the words to the first verse on the fly, turning it into an impromptu tribute to Bev who is heading off to Florida. We will miss you Bev.  Nice job Marilyn.

I feel I missed something here. Susan please fill and and edit as needed.

I hope to see some or all of you this Saturday at the library 10 to noon.

Thank you to a fantastic group of players and singers,

Jack
