Sup Recap 4/19/2023

Dear Jack,

We had 16 players this evening and spent a good part of the time running through the songs for Friday’s performance for our friends at Salisbury Assisted LIving. That will be at 1:00 pm (arrive at 12:30 please) at 19 Beach Road, Salisbury-  a great venue with enthusiastic residents, so I’m glad we have such a good group attending! It will not be the same without you on my left, Jack, but we will make you proud! I will let your lady friend know you will be there the next time.

Prior to diving into the Salisbury setlist, Susan (me) introduced a book downloaded from a “Danno at Play It Daily” post. This is a free download, and it is attached to this email so you can all take a look! Susan (I) will pick out a familiar song that does not require a low G string for use to play around with next time. Please note that if you are interested, there is a workshop linked to it, which costs I think $90. Here’s the link:

Other than that, we played Build Me Up Buttercup, for which Susan (me) probably needs to find the most recent format, and Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and Handle With Care, both of which went very well.

I do want to encourage everyone to email me suggestions for our practices as well as for our upcoming performances! Also we want anyone interested in introducing a song they are working on to let Susan (me) know ahead of time, so she (I) can find a good version and be ready to either put it on the screen or make copies. We hope to have a half hour at the end of every meetup devoted to trying new things and allowing members to perform or lead a song. We had so many great songs introduced during the Circle Up nights, as well as during our Kingston Saturdays!

We welcome Joan and Dave back! So glad to see you and we hope soon that warm Arizona weather will get here, too!

Last but not least: Thank you to Maria for taking on  the thankless job of scrolling on the computer! The running commentary and helpful hints were an added bonus!

We WILL gather on Saturday for anyone that is interested. It may be small due to it being SNHUG luau day, but we will have Spider Drew with us as we start navigating songs for Lowell that will include his excellent harmonica skills!

We miss you very much, Tonto! There is a definite lack of social finesse without you!  Also pronouns are hard. Don’t make us come over there.

Thanks to all for making SUP great!

Susan (me)
