Sup Recap 5/17/2023

Good morning!

Thank you, Jack, for the recap. It’s great to have you back on duty!

Jack did forget to mention “Two of Us”, which we have been wanting to do for a long time. I thought it went really well!

I believe we are ready to rock at Brentwood next week. And yes, I will also be at the library for anyone who wants to go, but don’t feel obligated to do both.

Thank you all for the music and the friendship! See you next week.

Susan

Good evening Susan,

What a great turnout we had this evening, 22 in attendance.

Maria’s corner kicked off at 4:30. If you’re not familiar with it. Maria demonstrates alternative means of playing different chords. Today she was teaching the Bossa Nova rhythm followed by the use of bar chords to make playing the E chord in White Rabbit easier.  These sessions are open to anyone, all you have to do is show up.

Thank you Maria.

The regular meet up began with a couple of announcements about upcoming performances. We went through all the songs that will be playing next Wednesday at the Brentwood Recreation Center.  This is a luncheon for seniors.  Lunch will be provided for us.

We went through a few random songs to wrap it up. The following are of interest:

Ripple – Tom demonstrated whistling the first verse as an intro. This was well accepted by the group. Susan stated that a G chord is needed when we transition singing. If I’m wrong on that Susan please correct me

Come Dancing – We tried the song using kazoos to take the place of the keyboard in the original song. That seemed okay but the song was definitely in the wrong key for singing. This song is a keeper but will need a lot of work.

Happy Trails – the last two chords in the last line of both verses need to be moved back.

Most people are already playing it that way.

Events:

Brentwood May 24

Practice for Lowell at Susan’s May 27

Lowell June 11

Concord June 21

Riverwoods July 14

Kingston August 5

Haverhill Art Show September 9

Please look at meet up for details on all of the above events. I’m getting too lazy to type out the info.

I’m sure I missed something but I do want to say that tonight was a lot of fun. It is always fun but with all the attendees the room was rocking. Thank you all for making this a great group.

Next Wednesday’s evening meet up at the library will go on as scheduled.

See you then,

Jack
