Sup Recap 6/7/2023

Thanks, Jack –

I want to repeat our thanks to Maria for her lessons – everyone really enjoyed them and  we hope you do it again after the summer! I know we have a lot of talented people in the group and if anyone else wants to do a lesson or lead a song any time, please do!

Thanks also to Ruth and Bev for submitting songs to try, and of course Bev, we love it when you sing!

Stay tuned to Meetup for any changes. For one thing, if summer ever arrives we may be outside more. We will also be going back to the Kingston Rec Center to play by the lake.

Have a great week!

Susan

Hi Susan,

Great evening. We had 20 players in attendance.

For those who didn’t hear the announcement, this afternoon was the last Maria’s Corner. Maria deserves a big shout out. She did a great job sharing her knowledge of strumming, bar chords, quirky songs and many other difficult ukulele things. Thank you Maria and I hope the corner comes back in the future.

Not sure how many noticed but the Meyers Gang is back at full strength.  Yay!!!!

There were no announcements made tonight but please go to our Meetup page to check out the upcoming events. Susan added a couple more recently.

Reminder – Wednesday June 21st a number of us will be performing in Concord. Susan and I will not be at the library. That said the library is still reserved. You are welcome to get together and have an informal practice or whatever you want to do.

We tried out some new songs tonight:

Dream a Little Dream – Susan will put it into SUP format and spruce it up a little bit. Great song

Birth of the Blues – another great song from Bev. Susan and Bev need to work out the details of the song and then it will be posted on the website.

Your Cheating Heart – needs practice.

We resurrected On Moonlight Bay – Bev and Marilyn did a great job on harmony with the rest of us doing the echoes. It was suggested that everyone join in on the last line. Bev agreed. Not sure if Susan heard that suggestion.

The rest of the night was going through random songs picked by the attendees.

Some of us will be playing at the Throwback Brewery Open mic Thursday evening. Feel free to stop by if you’re interested.  They have great food and a wide variety of beer.  The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with featured performers.  Surprisingly we are not among them. Then at 7 it will be opened up to the rest of us.

If I forgot something please let me know.

Thank you everyone.

Enjoy your weekend.  We hope to see you all next week.

Jack
