Sup Recap 7/5/2023

 Good recap, Jack!

Peter, thank you so much for sharing your project with us. I can’t imagine figuring that all out, and I am also in awe of your ukulele skills! Fur Elise!

We are getting close to our bigger outdoor events – July 23 and August 5 in Kingston, September 9 in Bradford. I will be putting my core list of songs out on Meetup and in a separate email. Most of the songs will be the same over all three events, but some tweaking will take place depending on if we have Spider on the harmonica and Tom on the bass. We have a lot of great songs we can do without a lot of practice.

The Saturday practices will be used to practice with people that can’t make it on Wednesday, and any of our SNHUG friends that will be playing with us in Bradford. I will post those practices on Meetup today – please spread the word.

Thanks everyone for your participation and friendship!

Susan

Good warm evening Susan,

The weather finally broke. It was quite warm outside but very comfortable in the library for the 23 attendees.

The evening began with Peter demonstrating a pedal box he made for his electric ukulele.  The different effects he could produce were amazing.  Great job with While My Guitar Gently Weeps.  I apologize but I forget the name of the second song which was even better. Thank you very much Peter.

After that we start with a couple of Fourth of July/America songs. Grand Old Flag/ Yankee Doodle Dandy.  That song went very well. We followed that with America by Simon & Garfunkel.  That didn’t go quite as well. It will need a lot of practice.

Susan brought back some songs that went pretty well:

Devil in Her Heart

I’m Looking Through You

Dream a Little Dream

Psycho Killer

The remainder of the evening was spent picking random songs from our website.

seacoastukuleleplayers.com

There were many great choices.  Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

We had a special request for a parody song.

We played Uke Joan D for Joan and Dave.  I would call it more of a tribute song than a parody.  It is based on Sloop John B.

If you have some free time check out the Parody tab under songs on our website. There’s some pretty interesting stuff on there.

Susan, you asked me to remind you to add repeat last line to Happy Trails

The next event we have coming up is Riverwoods in Manchester, Friday July 14. This, like all our performances, is open to all skill levels. The more the merrier.

Susan, please add The Garden Song to the set list.

We also have a brand new event:

Music on the Plains, Sunday July 23.  This is in Kingston, NH. We were lucky enough to be selected for the very first event in the summer series.

Please see Meetup for more information on these two events and many more that are coming up in August, September and October.

Susan, if I missed something please add it in. If anyone has any comments, questions or suggestions please feel free to write back

Tonight was a lot of fun as usual and I want to thank all of you for coming out in the heat. Which was much better than the rain that we had last week.

Have a great weekend everyone and I hope to see all of you next week.
