Sup Recap 9/6/2023

Hi, All,

Well, you know we went deep when every song “needs practice”!

But I think you all know by now we like to try new songs just because we like them. And that we will try just about anything unless suggested by Jack!

Seriously, some weeks I just don’t have the time or energy to make a great list, so that’s where you all come in: what do you want to play? send it ahead or be ready with your favorites from the website. And when you shout out your preferences, use your “bar room voice”  as Bev would say. Our ears aren’t getting any younger.

I am hoping that the Haverhill Arts show won’t be rained out, but if I get word it is cancelled I will send out an email as well as a message on Meetup.

Reach the Beach, on Saturday the 16th: changing the time to 1 pm! It’s just a fun vamp out by the road, this time with a little preparation and some battery amps!

PLEASE REMEMBER WE WILL NOT BE AT THE LIBRARY NEXT WEEK!  We will be at Lauren’s house for a jam and cookout starting at 4 pm. Bring a contribution to the table if you like, and the music for Reach the Beach as well as the Halloween list for our October events. I pinky swear I will get these lists nailed down and posted very soon. And I will make a few extra packets, as always, hopefully not with old versions of songs, right, Jack?

Thank you all for being such faithful fellow travellers on this adventure.

Susan

Good hot humid evening Susan,

Welcome to September everybody.

We had 18 in attendance.

Some of us started off the evening at 4:30 in the children’s room with a bar cord lesson from Maria. Always a good time. Watch for emails and Meetup for future episodes of Maria’s corner.

Susan went deep into the weeds and pulled out some interesting songs this evening.  Here are some highlights:

On the Road Again – needs practice

Take it Easy – needs work

Hit the road Jack – sorry Susan I’m not going anywhere.  This needs to be separated into guys/girls or high voices/low voices.  There is one section that needs to be put into italics. I believe Susan knows which one

Country Roads – change the word “growing” to “blowing” in the breeze.  I thought this was fixed last year but apparently not.

Make Your Own Kind of Music – needs practice and the area that Susan has in red needs to be to figured out.

World Without Love – need practice

Margaritaville – verify that the instrumental is correct.

Come Monday – practice.  Rest in Peace Jimmy

Devoted to You – Key change

Your Cheating Heart – needs practice

Back Home Again – needs practice

The group selected random songs to finish out the evening.

Don’t forget next week we will not be meeting at the library. We will be meeting at Lauren’s house in Brentwood. All the information you need is on Meetup.  We did this last year and had a great time.

This Saturday, weather permitting, we will be at the art show on the Bradford Common at 1:30. There’s still plenty of room if anyone would like to join in.

Saturday 9/16 – we’ll be playing for the Reach the Beach road race in Kingston, near the Rec, as the runners pass by.  Susan sent out an email recently asking people for their opinion on what time we should play. Meetup will be adjusted accordingly.

Please see Meetup for October Halloween events.

It was a great time as usual.  Thank you for coming out.

Enjoy the rest of your week and stay cool,

Jack
