Hello, Everyone,
It’s your feudal overlord here. I am glad the peasants had a fun time without me last night!
Thanks again, Jack, for running the show and for all of you that helped out or just put up with his shenanigans.
Yes, we are set to play at Riverwoods in Exeter on Monday, January 15, and I will post that tonight.
I will see some of you tomorrow! And I will be back on Wednesday, Nov. 29, fat, rested and ready to roll with Christmas and winter songs.
Susan

My Dear Suzerain,
Yes that’s a word, I’m assuming Susan knows what it means. She knows everything. Next time you see me, ask me where I heard that word.
Tonight we had 10 players. We tried a wide variety of songs with pretty good success.
If anyone is interested in viewing the songs we tried tonight, look under the Meetup Song List tab on the website.
I want to thank Jan for assuming the scrolling duties this evening. I also want to thank Bill, Tom, Patty and Jan for leading some of the songs. I hope I’m not forgetting anybody.
Sixteen Tons – went pretty well. We need to work on the timing as we come out of the chorus.
Down on the Corner – Tom will lead us into the song with the bass as well as close the song out. There are two C chords at the end of the song. Jan suggested we strum the first one and then the second one very lightly as Tom takes us out with the bass. There is one C chord in the body of the song that needs to be capitalized and have brackets put around it.
First Cut is the Deepest – eliminate the [G] before the 2X at the end of the song.
Follow Me – The song needs a lot of practice and possibly a key change. That said, it was very well received. Thank you Bill for the suggestion. This was one of many suggestions by him. Please remember, anyone can suggest a song.
Maggie May – went well but needs some practice.
Riders on the Storm – needs major practice. Possibly a good Halloween song for next year.
Solitary Man – listen to the song and work on the timing.
Sugartime – good song but I think some of us need to be reacquainted with it. Please give it a listen when you get a chance.
Summer Nights – Tom has played the bass for this song, randomly, for well over a year. We tried it once before but this time it was better. It’s definitely is doable. The song needs to be color coded for the girls/ boys parts.
Today While the Blossoms – this is a New Christie Minstrels song. Needs practice.
Try to Remember – needs practice.
Now and Then – this is the new and also the last Beatles Song. It was recently released. If you’re unfamiliar with it, please check out YouTube. Jan did the arrangement and led the song. We need to practice it but it is definitely a keeper.
Hazy Shade of Winter – went well but needs more practice. Patty feels that once we get the song down then we can work on the harmonies.
We were tipped off that Michelle, the librarian, is leaving for a new position. Her favorite song is Jambalaya. We moved to the main floor and played it for her. She was very grateful.
Events:
Riverwoods Manchester – this Friday. Please sign up if you’d like to attend.
Seabrook Library Christmas Open House – December 13th. This will be during a normal meetup time except we’ll be out on the main floor.
Although I have not received confirmation from Susan, I believe we’ll be playing at Riverwoods in Exeter on January 15th, more details to follow.
Please remember they will be no Meetup next week. Will be returning, with Susan (yay), on November 29th.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.
Be safe,
Jack
