SUP Recap 12/20/2023

Hi, Everyone –

Jack has it covered, as usual. We had an interesting evening of trying to move on from Christmas while also embracing it… thank you, Bill, for the fine reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, and for Bev for lassoing us back to some normal songs!

I will work on the setlist for Riverwoods and get it posted. Remember our “second Saturday” practice is on January 13, so that will be an opportunity to tighten up our act for Riverwoods. We also will start preparing for…..

Hogapalooza! I am looking forward to seeing some of our friends from other groups and hearing what they are working on! I have reached out to SNHUG, BUG, the Uke Pitt and Mary Ann and Bob from Amherst. There are others I will be attempting to reach, but I don’t have all the contact info. If you belong to the Newburyport group or any others, please make sure they know they are welcome! It is open to all. As for SUP, I encourage everyone who wants to do a solo or duet; I hope to do one or two myself. For our group songs, let’s think about three songs to really polish over the next few weeks.

Happy Solstice to all (light up the night!) –  and I wish you a happy peaceful Christmas holiday.

I look forward to getting together next Wednesday with some great songs, new and old, as we turn from the old to the new year.

Thank you!!

Susan

Dear Susan,

We had 16 and attendance on this Wednesday before Christmas.

Please note that we will be meeting next Wednesday December 27th for anyone who would like to join us.

It was a fun evening playing Christmas parodies and funny songs. Susan wrote two fantastic parodies: Hell’s Bells and Rest Ye Merry Vegetables.  I am hoping that someday she will post them to the website for others to enjoy.

We also play the handful of real Christmas songs.

The children’s librarian requested that we try What the World Needs Now.  We did a pretty good job considering was that first attempt. That song will be added to the website.

The following events are approaching quickly:

Riverwoods Exeter January 15th

Hogapalooza at the Library February 3rd

This is a combination World Ukulele Day/ Groundhog Day celebration. Susan will be inviting other ukulele groups to join us. There will be plenty of opportunity for open mics etc

Please see Meetup the details on both these events

If you have any questions or comments please contact either Susan on me.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and for those we won’t see next week an even better New Year.

Jack
