SUP Recap 1/3/2024

Hello, SUP!Jack, good job as always. I see you changed font size partway through, and I like the larger one so …Everyone who is planning to play at Riverwoods, please take note of the songs pdf that is posted both on Meetup and the website. Okay, I am attaching it here, too. We have two more opportunities to practice: next Wednesday and Saturday the 13th. We will be awesome! As for Hogapalooza, the plan is to arrive at 9 to set up – I believe Tom will bring the big sound system, we will set up a snacks and drinks table – and then we will socialize for a while when people start to arrive and we see how many sign up for open mic slots. I plan to have the music start at 11…..possibly SUP will warm things up with groundhog songs. This is casual to the point where I have no idea how many people will come and want to play! But SUP is ready to fill any gaps and to have a whale of a time. Please see the poster attached! One thing: whatever songs we plan to perform, we will want to have paper music. At the end we can break out the projector and do a jam (working on a list), but being on the stage means you can’t see the screen. I will bring extra song sheets. If you have questions, please reach out to me or Jack, or put your comments out on Meetup. Thank you all! See you soon, Susan

Good evening Susan,

Lots of fun as usual this evening. We had 14 in attendance.

I like to start off by saying that a woman came to the door and listened to a few of our songs this evening. She told the librarian that there was a ton of energy and fun in the room. She said she had been having a very bad day and we completely changed her mood. Great job everyone.

We spent most of the evening practicing for our Riverwoods event in Exeter.

There will be a change to one of the songs on the set list.

Drunken sailor – remove the existing intro and play the first verse as the intro.  You can make a pen and ink change if you’ve already printed that song.  Or you can wait for Susan to make the change and post the updated PDF in Meetup and on the website.

Love is All You Need – please listen to this song and practice. We did a great job on this song considering was our first time . We definitely want to include it in the Riverwoods performance.

The balance of the evening was spent playing random songs selected by the group.

Events:

Riverwoods Exeter – January 15th One of our members, Larry, lives there and help set this event up. Thank you Larry.

Hogapalooza – February 3rd Seabrook Library.

Today we learned that the library agreed to our request to remain open until 2:00 p.m.

This event will run from 10 :00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This will be our World Ukulele Day/Groundhog Day extravaganza.  This event is open to all groups and individuals who want to do duets, solos, play as a group or just watch. It is also open to the general public so please bring your friends and relatives. If you know anyone who plays or a ukulele group please invite them.  This event is free of charge. We will be raffling off a very nice Cordoba baritone ukulele with case and strap.  Tickets will be $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Children’s Room of the library.

Brentwood Senior Lunch – February 28th at the Brentwood Recreation Department. This is a great venue and lunch is included!
For more information on these and other events please check our Meetup page.
If you have any questions or comments please contact either Susan or me.
Thank you all and have a good night,

Jack
