Thank you, Jack!
Again, a fun time with a minimum of discipline…
Happily, the Hogapalooza will be a laid-back event- we don’t need to stress, just have fun with some of our favorite songs and get to know some of the other local groups.
Jack mentioned Uke Pitt, the Ukulele Songsters, and Hopkinton (the Contookuleles). I also have confirmation that the Barrington Ukulele Group will be performing, as well as a few players from Newburyport. North Shore has put out a group message, so they may be there too. It’s going to be a full house!
My first goal is to be sure everyone gets a chance to play as a group. Then people can sign up to come back up, whether as a group or as individuals. We are limited by the library’s hours, so my plan is to take down the sound equipment and start a group jam using the projector by 1:15. This is flexible in case we run over on open mic time.
I will bring extra packets, but everyone that can print out their own should do so. I will be making a pdf of all the songs we will or might do – I have two sets planned, but depending on how it goes, we may only get one, and maybe time for a couple of solos or duets. The group songs to bring are: Snowy Afternoon, Handle with Care, San Francisco Bay Blues, California Dreaming; Wellerman, Happy Together, La Bamba, White Rabbit. If you want to do a song on your own and would like back up, print enough copies for all involved.
For the Jamalong, I will be putting together a separate pdf to project on the screen for all. So far I would like to include:
Let’s Talk Dirty in Hawaiian, Sea Cruise, Here Comes the Sun, Octopus’s Garden, Stray Cat Strut, You Are the Groundhog, Sloop John B, Teach Your Children, Country Roads. Could be more. We will do as many as we can, and wrap it up with (what else??) Jambalaya.
No need to print these, I am just sharing so that if you have a song you really want to do at the end, let me know!
Thanks to all for the fun and friendship! Watch Meetup and the website for updates — see you next week!
Susan

Good dark rainy evening Susan,
Fourteen hardy souls attended this evening.
Reminder, we are no longer allowed to use the side door in the big room where we practice. We must enter an exit through the main doors.
We started this evening playing songs that Susan has picked out for the SUP set at Hogapalooza. When she has made a final decision the setlist will posted on Meetup as well as the website.
We are still struggling with a couple of songs that we really want to do.
Hazy Shade of Winter – this went much better this time. Susan is going to copy and paste the chords from the intro into the area where it says repeat intro. I think with a little practice we’ll nail this down and actually get the play at some place before springtime. Thank you Susan for your hard work on formatting this song.
All You Need is Love – Once again Lauren led us in with her trombone. Thank you very much Lauren. This also went much better than the last time. Susan is going to separate the bottom lines of the song to make it easier to understand. Maybe this will keep her from blaming Jack/Tonto for any timing issues.
Events:
Hogapalooza – February 3rd. This event is fast approaching. If you would like to do a solo or a duet please contact Susan for a time slot. Right now, it looks like we have a few groups joining us. The Uke Pitt, The Ukulele Songsters, the Hopkington Group and Jack & The No Jills. We will also have a ground hog photo banner. Tom will be bringing his sound system. Individual amps and not needed. If you have a mic stand and microphone, please bring them. You also need to bring your music stand and paper copies of the music. Things are still coming together. If you have any questions or want to help out please contact Susan or me.
Brentwood Senior Luncheon – February 28th.
Please see Meetup for additional information on these and other upcoming events.
Have a great remainder of the week and hope to see you next Wednesday.
Jack
