SUP Recap 1/31/2024

Thank you, Jack!

And yes, thank you to Bob Glowacky. He did a great job and I hope the recording is heavy on music and Jack’s comments, and light on mine! EIther way, it was a really nice opportunity to get some information out there about our group and about Hogapalooza! Thank you, Lauren, you made good sons!

I think we have food covered (Carol, you are still bringing some sandwiches, I believe?), but if anyone wants to add an easy pick-up snack, feel free!

Help is welcome on Friday between 3 and 5, or at 9 on Saturday to help test the sound system and put finishing touches on raffle tables and food.

We will also need help at the end, to get everything out before 2 when people are still lingering and singing. We need to let the librarians go home at two, so the goal is to have all equipment, leftovers and garbage outside by then.

I love this group and I am excited about this party! Let’s be excellent hosts. As I mentioned, we will play first at 10:30, possibly a touch earlier, to get things started and test the sound. After all other groups that want to play have at least one spot, we (or they) can sign up to do additional sets, or solos/duets. We want everyone to have a good time and make it worth their while to have travelled in.

LASTLY… I  and Jack are going to play two, possibly three, songs at Hampton Physical Therapy in Seabrook, which is located in the plaza where Linda’s diner and the Chop Shop are located, across from the plaza where, in true Seabrook style, the adult emporium (“Nude Ladies!”) and tattoo parlor are. You go way to the back; it is in the same building that is now a storage facility. They love us there and want a groundhog song! We will do Snowy Afternoon and You Are the Groundhog. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by (on your way to the library to set up!)

I know I forgot a ton of stuff. But it’s all going to be great!

No matter how it is, it will be better than attending a Deliberative Session. Peggy knows what I am talking about!

Susan

Good evening Susan

We had 19 enthusiastic players in attendance.

Sending out a big thank you to Bob Glowacky, Lauren’s son, of Exeter TV for taking the time to film a couple of our songs and allowing us to sing the outro of his TV program. He said that if all goes well the video will be released on his bi-weekly report this Friday approximately noon time. If we receive a link it will be passed along.

We spent the majority evening going over songs for our set(s) this Saturday at Hogapalooza.  We also went over the sing-along songs for the end of that event.

We played random songs and a couple of duets at the end of the evening.

The following songs need work:

All You Need is Love – this is coming along better each time. We will continue to practice.

Hazy Shade of Winter – the correction from last week still needs to be made. Susan will do that when she has time. If I remember correctly she was going to put the cords from the intro into the middle of the song where it says to repeat  intro. We are trying to get this song playable for the Brentwood senior event.  Same thing with All You Need is Love.

Events:

Hogapalooza – this Saturday 10:00 to 2:00. If anyone is available to help set up please show up  earlier.  Some of us will be there at 9:00 to set up the sound system, raffle table. food etc.

Lauren has donated a second item for our raffle. A Lego Ukulele!! Thank you Lauren. One hundred percent of the funds from that raffle will be donated to the children’s program at the library.

Right now we have:

SUP!

Jack and The No Jill’s

The Ukulele Songsters

The Uke Pitt

The  Contookuleles

The Port City Ukulele Group

The Barrington Ukulele Group

Brentwood Senior Lunch – February 28

Happy Seniors – Seabrook Library – March 6

Riverwoods Manchester – April 12

That’s it for now.

Please let me know if I forgot anything.

Thank you everyone for a great evening of fun and laughs.

See you Saturday,

Jack
