SUP Recap 3/20/2024

Does anybody doubt the worth of our Jack? I don’t!

Thank you, dear Tonto for stepping in at the last minute and putting together songs AND leading them. And I know there was good support from Patty and Tom and others, too, so thanks to all.

I will be glad to see you all next week, but believe me you didn’t want me there last night.

As my energy returns I am trying hard to get us some summer plans. I have been lazy about it but we have a few tricks up our sleeve. The main event is of course the Kingston Mighty Jam in July. I have three firm commitments from other groups and one raffle donation already.

Our picnic at Peggy’s will be a nice relaxed time, and we can use it also as a practice for the 20th.

As Jack mentioned, we will return in the better weather (I’m sorry… isn’t this supposed to be Spring??) to Kingston Rec for Saturday practices. I can’t commit to every Saturday, but it is available to us. So we will start with May 11 and go from there.

We are working on the songs we’ve introduced recently – so many good ones! Please keep your suggestions coming and never hesitate to send us a new song. Some work and some don’t but we have an open mind. Really! All bad press to the contrary.

Have a good week and stay healthy. Here comes the sun!

Susan

Good evening Susan

I hope you are feeling better and please don’t get sick again.

We had 15 in attendance this evening. It was a little raucous at times but it was fun.

Announcements:

We will have another Saturday Meetup library from 10:00 to noon on the second Saturday of April.

This wasn’t announced but we are having a meet up at the Kingston Rec on the second Saturday in May.

July 20th – Will be doing another ukulele events similar to Hogapalooza.  Susan has named it The Mighty Ukes Summer Jam.  I thought Susapalooza was an appropriate name but apparently not. She has sent out invitations to the groups that attended in February. This event will be held in the field adjacent to the Kingston Rec. The Rec will be supplying the food.  It’s my understanding that at least one ukulele will be donated by one of the groups.

Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Rec.

Information on the above is posted on Meetup.

We went through the song list for the Riverwoods performance with some random songs into mixed. We finished the night with requests. One of the highlights of the evening is a request by one of the patrons to play Monster Mash.  It was a little early for Halloween but we did pretty well with it. She was very happy.

Love is a Rose – the group agreed that it’s okay in the key of C. We just need to practice it.

Thank You Girl – this was the first time we’ve tried this Beatles song. It’s a good song but like everything else it needs practice.

Take it Easy – We need to check the ending. It was pointed out that there are two rounds of “ooos” that need to be inserted between the last verse and the ending.

Events:

Riverwoods Manchester 4/12

Picnic and Play at Peggy’s House 7/17

The Mighty Ukes Summer Jam 7/20

For more information on these events please check Meetup.

I want to thank everyone for the patience this evening. It’s not easy being Susan.

Take care

Jack
