SUP Recap 8/21/2024

Hello, All, and thank you Jack for another thorough recap!
I don’t have much to add. But I do want to say that I appreciate the cheerfulness, especially when we are all stuffed into the kids’ room! I think we sound great in there; I really love being able to hear everyone better. But it’s not very comfortable with so many players ….and I love that we have so many players…, so please be assured we will be back in our big room next week!

As Jack said, please do sign up on Meetup if you are coming to Tyngsboro, and leave a comment to say if you are coming to Tom’s for the cookout after.

Looking ahead, we have the Exeter farm market, which is no small thing and will be really fun! Please sign up so we can plan the best day possible!

Keep on speaking up with your song choices and any input on what we are doing.

See you soon- rock on!

Susan

Hi Susan,

We had 25 members in the children’s room this evening. It wasn’t anywhere near as stuffy as it was last time.  We are happy to see new members joining and returning. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. We’re happy to answer the questions and repeat things as necessary.

We started the evening with a PDF that had some of the songs that we will be playing this Saturday at the car show. We followed that with a few more songs that I felt needed practice.

The following songs need a little work:

Peaceful Easy Feeling – intro count is 1-2-3-4

1-2-3-4 not 1-2 1-2

Whiskey in the Jar –  No pause going into the chorus especially when it’s played twice In the final chorus.

Cover of the Rolling Stones – Jack solos on the first four lines of the second verse

You Send Me  – needs practice

Long May You Run – eliminate the second instrumental. Needs practice

That’ll be the Day – needs practice

Catch the Wind – needs practice.  Listen to the song to get the hang of the timing.

Reminder: anyone attending is welcome to go to Tom’s house after for a cookout. He is supplying hamburgers and hot dogs. If you would like anything special please reach out to him. If you have a side dish you’d like to bring, he would welcome it. It is supposed to be a beautiful day.

If you have not signed up on Meetup and plan on performing and going to Tom’s, please let us know as soon as possible.

Dream Diner Car Show – Tyngsborough- August 24 –  followed by a cookout at Tom’s
