SUP Recap 8/28/2024

Hi, Jack,

Thank you, and everyone else for indulging me in another haphazard song list!

There are so many songs that we have tried and even done well with in the past, that have floated off the radar. Most (maybe not all) are worth another look!

Please do remember we are open to suggestions – if I have them ahead of time I can include them (and format if necessary) in the practice list.

Great fun – have a happy Labor Day weekend, all!

Susan

Good evening Susan,

It’s hard to believe that this is the last meeting in August and that this weekend is Labor Day weekend.

We had 24 in attendance this evening.

As of this moment we have not heard whether Lauren’s daughter-in-law and son have had the baby.  Last we heard is that she was in labor.

We played another PDF of random songs from Susan. A few of them were blasts from the past and others were some that we’ve played more recently. The remainder of the evening was spent playing requests. We had some good ones.

The following songs needs something:

Learning to Fly – needs practice, Susan to look at ending

Catch the Wind – listening to the song will help with getting the ¾ time rhythm.

Proud Mary – Susan to rework as time permits

The Weight – listen to it when you have a chance

Uncle John’s Band – same as above

Shine On Harvest Moon – the instrumental is the verse above.  Susan will make it clearer on the song sheet

City of New Orleans – We were advised that the city’s name is Kankakee not Kenkakee.  Thanks Barbara

The Boxer – This went very well but needs more practice

I’m sure I missed some of the songs. If so please let me know.

Susan stated today that if anyone has a song they want us to try if you can give her the name in advance she can get it on the weekly PDF. Remember these PDFs can be found on our website.

Events:

Play at the Exeter Farm Market – Seacoast Eats Local – September 12

Dream Dinner Car Show Redux – Tyngsborough -September 21

Coppal House Farm Craft Fair – Lee, NH – October 19

Please check Meetup for the latest information on all events.

These events are open to everyone.  Please join us sometime.

The car show went very well last weekend. Tom did a great job with the sound system. And even better, we had a cookout at Tom’s house afterwards. Tom and his wife are very gracious hosts.

If you have any questions comments or suggestions please send them in.

Susan, if I forgot anything or made any errors, please correct.

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone,

Jack
