SUP Recap 9/4/2024

Thank you, Jack!

You are my hero. Thank you for leading the group and tackling this list! I have my tasks set before me and will try to be ready for next week!

I will also be posting a practice for Saturday the 14th, at 10 am at the library. This will be mainly for getting ready for the car show – that is a big list with some challenges, but will be a fun day. Please consider joining us. Last time we had a light audience but the sound system worked great and the DJ was fun. The diner offered free food as well, though we realized it too late!

Next Thursday at Exeter will be a long performance but also a nice atmosphere. We will take breaks – you can also come for just a part of it if you can’t commit to 3 hours. Parking is an issue, so plan ahead on that.

I am sure I will bounce back over the next couple of days and look forward to getting back to normal life next week.

It’s a beautiful time of year, get out and enjoy it – and keep strumming!

Susan

Good evening Susan,

We had nine very patient players in attendance this evening. I’m sorry you were unable to be there.  I struggled a bit but in the end I think it was a decent Meetup.

We went through the songs that you had prepared. If anyone’s interested the PDF is on the website.

The following songs need something:

I Fought the Law – key of G. We need an extra G at the end of each verse. This would give us the form beats that we need between verses.

Born to be Wild – listen to the song. Tom helped us with the count. Someone with the musical skills needs to rewrite it.

Proud Mary – Susan provided a new version. She will demonstrate the chord pattern next week.

Fun Fun Fun -needs practice

Chantilly Lace – this went very well considering was the first time trying it. Were you going to remove the cords from the speaking parts. There is a pause between the spoken part and the singing. Tom will lead us in with the bass. I believe that it’s four beats and then one beat as you start to sing Chantilly Lace. We will work on it next week

Last Kiss – we did pretty well on this song. A little more practice is needed.

Mr Spaceman – I think I was the only one who would ever heard this song. Please listen to it when you get a chance. We want to add this to our Halloween repertoire.

We finished out the night with a couple of random songs. Bev sang Birth of the Blues. Nice work Bev. The version we have is still not correct. She said she will email Susan a corrected version

We also discussed the possibility of singing Leader of the Pack. The general opinion was that we should do it. We will be looking for a ukulele version to try in the future. Michelle wants to bring an actual motorcycle in so we have realistic sound effects.

Events:

Play at the Exeter Farm Market – Seacoast Eats Local – September 12

Dream Dinner Car Show Redux – Tyngsborough -September 21

Coppal House Farm Craft Fair – Lee, NH – October 19

These events are open to everyone.  Please join us sometime.

If you see any errors, omissions I have a comment please pass it along.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding this evening. Susan should be back next week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend hope to see you next Wednesday.

Jack
