SUP Recap 12/4/2024

Hi, Jack,

Thank you for all you do!

It was a really nice Wednesday practice and I believe we are in good shape to entertain the library patrons on Dec. 18. The more voices, the better, so please do plan to attend if you can!

I am attaching the setlist pdf – we do have next Wednesday AND next Saturday (14th) to run through them as needed. I made the fix to White Christmas; other songs where we mentioned minor tweaks will have to be penciled in for now.

Looking ahead, our next big thing is Hogapalooza II. I have an update: We will be holding Hogapalooza at the Kingston Rec building, on Sunday, February 2. We have the building all day, so plenty of time to set up and clean up. I will be sending a notice out to the other groups who I hope will join us again; please get the word out to anyone that may be interested in attending. Also, please let me know your thoughts on the format, raffles, and food. I want to keep it simple, so it will probably be a table of pick-up snacks and water.

Thanks to all of you for being part of our group and making Wednesdays so fun! Have a happy and safe week.

Susan

My Dear Susan,

Yet another fun evening. We had 15 in attendance on this chilly evening.

Most of our time was spent playing random Christmas songs.

We do have a few that Susan needs to touch up.

White Christmas – after we sing the second verse Tom or another individual will whistle the second verse while we continue to play. Then we will all pick up again on the third verse. Because of the nature of whistling we need to limit it to one person for this song.

Christmas Island – One beat on the last two chords

Peace on Earth – this originally included  The Little Drummer boy.  I took the liberty of stripping the drummer boy lines out to see if Peace on Earth could be a stand-alone song.

With a little practice we could make it happen. And then maybe next year add drummer boy back in.

War is Over – this went fairly well. The “John Lennon” singers need to be louder. The “Yokos” were overpowering us

The remainder of the evening was spent playing a few of our regular songs by request.

Events –

Seabrook Library Holiday Open House – December 18.  This will be during our normal weekly Meetup. Please sign up if you can make it

This event is open to all members regardless of experience level.

For more information,  please check our Meetup page.

It was nice having Bev back and a special appearance by Peggy.

Stay warm everyone and we are looking forward to seeing you all next week.
