SUP Recap 12/11/2024

Dear Jack,

Thank you for holding the fort, and so ably! You obviously had it well under control.

I was glad I could make it, even if only for a few songs. Singing and strumming with friends is the best medicine for work blahs.

Speaking of medicine, healing thoughts go out to Patty and Jan and Steve – we miss you and hope to have you back soon.

We will rock the library next Wednesday, no doubt about it!

Hope to see you all on Saturday as well.

Susan

Hello Susan,

Despite the crazy wind, rain and warm temperatures, we had 13 members in attendance this evening.

It got off to a rocky start because our Fearless Leader was stuck in a work meeting.  She arrived at approximately 6:30. But to her credit she did show up.

I want to thank Amanda from the library. She set us up with a Chromebook and everything we needed to get the practice started.  We went through every song on the list for next Wednesday ‘s performance at the library. When Susan arrived we went through some of the ones that we had an issue with.

I want to thank everyone for their patience, help and understanding with the rough start.

For those who are able to attend, we have a practice this Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00 at the library. This will be the final practice before Wednesday’s holiday celebration.

Please keep in mind that everyone is welcome to perform next Wednesday and at any of our events. Six years ago, I started with this group on a Wednesday. Susan and others talked me into performing at a Christmas show that Friday. I knew three cords and was not comfortable singing. She told me to air strum, lip sync and smile.  I’m glad I did it.

If you don’t have a music stand or you cannot print the music let Susan and I know. You can always look on with someone else. Some of us have extra stands. Susan usually has a couple extra packets of music available.

There is no formal dress code for the performance at the library. We suggest festive clothing. If you have a holiday sweater, Hawaiian shirt, Santa hat. Antlers, earrings  whatever please feel free to wear it/them.

Events:

Seabrook Library Holiday Open House – December 18.  This will be during our normal weekly Meetup. Please sign up if you can make it.  If you can make it there before 5:00 that would be nice. If not arrive when you can. I believe we’re hoping to start by 5:15 at the latest.

Hogapalooza 2 – Kingston Rec Building – February 2, 2025.  We are following up on a very successful inaugural Hogalpalooza held at the Seabrook Library last year. Due to scheduling conflicts, this event will be held at the Kingston Rec on Sunday February 2nd.  This just happens to be the actual National Holiday known as Groundhog Day.  In case you’re new to the group or wondering, Susan has declared it a National Holiday.  This is still in the planning stages but it looks like setup will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the event running from noon to 5:00 p.m. More information will be posted on Meetup as things develop.

For more information on events,  please check our Meetup page.

Once again I want to thank everyone for coming out this evening. It was a lot of fun.

I believe we are going back into cold temperatures so hang in there.

Jack
