SUP Recap 1/22/2025

Thanks, Jack for the thorough recap! It was a fun night and a good practice. Thanks to Spider for coming back and jazzing up the group once again!

The setlist for Hogapalooza will be the songs practiced last night, in this order:

1. Do You Believe in Magic

2. Friday I’m in Love

3. Your Mama Don’t Dance

4. Down at the Twist and Shout

5. Black is Black

6. Rock Around the Clock
The Groundhog songs will be for warm-up singalongs – we may not do them all, but all will be printed in the program.

If you want to pre-buy raffle tickets, we will have the tickets available on Saturday and Wednesday (Marilyn, if you are not there at either practice I do have an extra roll of tickets.)

The raffle page of the program is  on my work computer, so I will send the full program out to you all later. But the schedule page is attached.

Have a great Thursday!

Susan

Good chilly evening Susan,

We had 18 hardy souls in attendance.

We went through a PDF that Susan had put out for this evening which included the songs for Hogalooza II as well as some from the past that we haven’t done in quite a while.

It was nice to have Spider and his harmonicas with us this evening.

Down at the Twist and Shout – The introduction is the first four lines. Then we sing the chorus the first verse and then the chorus again. Spider plays a verse. We sing the chorus again and pick up where we left off.  At the end of the song we play the last line of the chorus twice.

If I missed something on that please let me know.

Black is Black- Ukes quietly strumming along with the piano for the entire intro

Friday I’m in love – We need to work on the middle part.

Rock Around the Clock – Spider plays the first verse. We all join in on “Put your glad rags on”

The rest of the evening was spent playing ground hog parodies as well as some old favorites and some not so favorites.

Don’t forget there is a practice this coming Saturday January 25th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Kingston Rec building. Bring your song sheets and music stands.

We have only one event on the books and that is Hogapalooza II February 2nd noon til 5 at the Kingston Rec building. Please check meet up for more details. Some of us will be there as early as 9:00 setting up. Plan on being there no later than 11:30 and if you can get there earlier to help set up we would appreciate it.

Marilyn is going to run the raffle again this year and can use some help. Please see her for more info.

As of right now we have a beginner concert ukulele, a concert banjolele, a soprano carbon fiber travel ukulele, a baritone ukulele, a uke gift assortment and a couple of music books for the raffle.

I’ll let Susan share information about coffee, water, snacks etc.

I think we all sounded great this evening especially the harmony. Keep up the great work.

Thank you all for a good night and try to stay warm.

Jack
