SUP Recap 1/29/2025

Thank you, Jack, and thanks to all who came out and practiced hard with us! I think our set is going to be fantastic, thanks to great participation from everyone, not to mention Spider’s magic harmonica and Tom keeping us on track. Thanks also to Bill for the sticks and shaker – it all makes such a difference! I promise I will be practicing my piano bits before Sunday and try not to throw everyone into left field.

As for Sunday – yes, please do remember it’s SUNDAY!….Noreen and Diane will be organizing the snacks table and Marilyn has got the raffles well in hand. But they can all use some help!

I have talked with my Kingston crew and we WILL bring some chairs from the Town Hall. Still, it won’t hurt to bring your own chair or two in case we fall short.

I am attaching the revised setlist. It is the same as the last one, only Friday I’m in Love and Black is Black are revised as Jack mentions. If we have time once set up is done we can do a run through. Anyone that was not there for practice – no worries, you can follow along just fine.

Thank you all. We are going to have a really fun day with lots of ukulele friends, that is the bottom line. And celebrate Spring being just around the corner, of course.

Rest up, tune up, stay healthy!

Susan

Hi Susan,

This evening we had 16 members in attendance.

We went through all the songs for this Sunday’s Hogapalooza II.  We also went through the groundhog parodies.

For the most part, things went well but the following songs need some changes.

Friday I’m in Love – Based on popular opinion, Susan is changing the part where we were going to have a few people sing to an instrumental. (Sorry Michelle) She is also shortening that by a couple of lines. She will be sending out the corrected song.

Your Mama Don’t Dance – take out the F cord at the end. Tom will be doing a base walk down and we will hit the C chord as he finishes. This will be a pen and ink change and hopefully Susan and I will remind everyone Sunday

Black is Black – Susan will delete the crossed out section in two places after “My loves to strong” She will add an E7 cord to the end of her piano part that replaces those deleted sections. AND Susan, you do not need to play the ukulele during that part. Please stay on the piano. I hope that makes sense.

Try to remember that there is a slight pause after “Maybe if she’d – come back to me.

Events – Hogapalooza II is this Sunday 2/2/2025 at the Kingston Rec. Yes Larry, this Sunday 12-5.

Susan, Tom, Bill and I will be there at 10:00. If anyone would like to help set up please get there sometime before 11:30. We hope to have all of our players in place by 11:30.

If you have a microphone, cable and mic stand bring it with you. Don’t forget you will also need your music stand and the music. There’s going to be a lot of equipment so please mark your possessions.

Susan mentioned this evening that if you have a folding type chair that you especially like bring it with you. She’s going to try to get more chairs from town hall.

Marilyn will be running the raffle and if you would like to help please see her at the event.

We will have water, coffee and snacks. If you’re so inclined to bring something feel free. If you’d like something more substantial to eat you’re more than welcome to pack a lunch.

I think I covered about everything and if I haven’t Susan we’ll pick up my slack.

Thank you everyone for a fun evening,

Jack
