Hi SUP! Friends
Good news, Jan has volunteered to lead the group Wednesday. Thank you Han. As luck would have it my grandson’s play has been rescheduled. I will be there Wednesday assisting Jan.
Susan is putting together a PDF for Wednesday. She’ll be with us in spirit. There will be time to play other songs and suggestions you may have.
Enjoy the weekend,
Jack AKA Sonny

Hi, All and thank you, Jack:
First of all, thanks to all for being there and bringing your enthusiasm even when everything doesn’t go smoothly. Too much smooth is boring anyway, right? I do want to work on “Love a Rainy Night” with that different strum, I think that has potential! We did not do too badly for a first attempt with a bad teacher! Please try it at home.
I also really do like “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with the different rhythm. I will be listening to 21 Pilots again to see where we may be going awry.
Timing and staying together continue to be our biggest stumbling blocks, so I am thinking about paper practice for a couple of songs. We could sit in a circle. I will give you fair warning!
HOWEVER, I need to tell you that I lost a brother-in-law this week, and just learned this evening that the funeral will be next Wednesday in Rhode Island. So I will not be at practice next week, and neither will Jack, at least not for the whole time. So please think about that and whether any of you are willing to step up and lead. We can cancel, but it is up to you all.
Thanks for being awesome!
This is always the best part of my week.
We will be in touch if we need to cancel completely next week. Meanwhile – Happy Spring! The Groundhog got it right!
Susan

Cc: Jack Heffernan <jackheff@yahoo.com>Hi Susan,
Another great evening. We had 17 in attendance.
Susan, once again, brought in a mixture of old and new. Once those were done, we moved on to random songs from the website.
Here are a few notes I made on some of the songs:
I Love a Rainy Night – Susan stressed that there’s a special strum in this song. She is going to work on a couple of issues and then we will continue to practice it
Can’t Help Falling in Love – most of us know this is an Elvis song. Susan stressed that she is doing the 21 Pilots version. Maybe we should all listen to that. It was clear that both versions were being sung with different timing. Susan is going to remove the stops that are currently on the song sheet.
A Brand New Key – this went very well. It needs some practice. We need someone to sing the high part like Melanie does. Maybe Tom can do it with his falsetto.
Happy Together – We need to reacquaint ourselves with this. Susan was the only one doing the backup. Once we get some of our people back from Florida, I’m sure we’ll get this back under control. It is one of our top songs.
Mr Postman – Three of the four Post-it Notes were in attendance. This song went well and like I said above, we need to reacquaint ourselves with it.
Mr Ed – Susan changed the chords and it was much easier to play.
Bus Stop – needs practice
I’m sure I missed something. Please feel free to send a reminder.
Events –
CCS Epping – Play on the Purple Porch – Epping NH May 10th. This is an art show. Space is limited. Susan is putting a limit on the initial amount of participants. However, we don’t want to shut anyone out. We will put as many people on the porch and hopefully in front of the porch as possible and then we can swap out people on different songs. We always make it work. Check Meetup for more information. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank one of our members, Paola, for recommending SUP!
Hidden Pond Equine Rescue Open House: Play for the Horses! – Brentwood, NH – June 7th.
Thank you Lauren for arranging. this performance.
If you have any horse song suggestions please send them along.
Please see Meetup for additional information
Riverwoods Exeter – July 17th. We are waiting for the social director to confirm the date. This will be posted on Meetup once confirmed.
All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th – More details will be forthcoming once it’s posted on Meetup
We forgot to announce that there’s a new supply of SUP! Buttons available for free. I didn’t know that Susan had placed a bag on the table by the kitchen. I’ll try to announce the next time that she has them out. If you don’t have one make sure to get yours.
I will, most likely, not be there next Wednesday.
One of my grandsons is making his acting debut in the 8th grade school play.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you all soon,
Jack
