SUP Recap 4/16/2025

Hi, Jack,

Please don’t really hit the road.

Thank you as always for documenting the evening and the things I have promised to do. You know I will forget at least half of them, but thank you!

One thing I really will do is leave “Can’t Help Falling in Love” off the group lists for a while. That failure was not the fault of Elvis, the 21 Pilots or the 18 pilots. That was all on me because rhythm is NOT my strong point and once I start down a road I can’t hear anything else! But it’s a good song and I love that version, so I will lick my wounds and practice it at home.

Thanks to Patty and Jack for bringing forward Tulsa Time, and Walter for leading us in Forever Young. It’s just great to have different voices and ideas, so please everyone feel free to step up with a song. You won’t believe how easy it is after you get past the terror.

Stay tuned for song lists that I am adjusting after these practices.

Also, I will be sending out information about t-shirt options in a separate email. I have a few of the original SUP shirts on hand, but Patty has done the legwork to set up a new order.

Welcome back to our friend Larry! Healing thoughts to Joan, aka Uke Joan D. I know there are others dealing with hard things, and I hope you keep a ukulele in reach and a song in your heart.

Until next time,

Susan

Howdy Susan,

We had 18 in attendance, including Larry, this non-rainy evening. Welcome back Larry.

We went through a PDF of songs that Susan is thinking of using in the set list for the Purple Porch art show next month.  As always these setlists can be found on our website.

Heart and Soul/Play that Song – practice

Have You Ever Seen the Rain – practice

I Love a Rainy Night – practice

59th Street Bridge Song – Play the ending twice. Susan forgot to add it to the song sheet

Can’t Help Falling in Love – Susan continues to want to do the Twenty One Pilots version. We only had 18 pilots in attendance. She decided to scrap the song for now.

For What it’s Worth – practice

Help Me Rhonda – We need a high voice(s) to echo “Look so Fine” and “Caught My Eye”

Bare Necessities – It was suggested that Susan put back the verses she took out for the bear show.

Don’t Worry Be Happy – Practice

Hit the Road Jack – sorry Susan, I’m not going anywhere. Susan to fix it

Rawhide – We need to work on the chorus

Tulsa Time – Patty and Jack played it, then the group. A fairly easy song that will be added to the website.

Forever Young – Walter did this as an open mic with the group. Great job Walter

Down at the Twist and Shout – Susan will create another version without the instrumentals. Both versions will be posted on  the website at some point.

Daniel – The song was requested but we do not have it on the website. We have done this in the past. Susan will dig it up and post it at some point.

Events:

CCS Epping – Play on the Purple Porch – Epping NH May 10th. This is an art show. Space is limited. Susan is putting a limit on the initial amount of participants. However, we don’t want to shut anyone out. We will put as many people on the porch and hopefully in front of the porch as possible and then we can swap out people on different songs. We always make it work. Check Meetup for more information. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank one of our members, Paola, for recommending SUP!

Hidden Pond Equine Rescue Open House: Play for the Horses! – Brentwood, NH – June 7th.

Thank you Lauren for arranging. this performance.

If you have any horse song suggestions please send them along.

Please see Meetup for additional information

Riverwoods Exeter – July 17th. We are waiting for the social director to confirm the date.

All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th

All of the above events are posted on Meetup.

That’s all I have, if I missed something please let me know. Remember your songs suggestions are always welcome. Doesn’t mean Susan will do it but they are always welcome.

Happy Easter and let’s have some good weather,

Jack
