SUP Recap 6/4/2025

Howdy, Jack,

Thanks for another great recap. I believe you captured all the song corrections we talked about, and I may even remember to mark my music! I will also correct copies on the website where needed, but the pdf for Saturday is already done.

I really like the Skye Boat song – it’s an old one, Outlander changed the words – and really fairly simple. What we lack are bagpipes. Anyone?? “Was a Sunny Day” will be a great song for us, please listen to Paul Simon to get the flavor of it. Thanks, Bill, for percussion on this, very helpful.

I am dithering mightily about the list for the 20th, but I think I will compile a large list of possibles that perhaps we can pare down on Saturday at Lauren’s, then we will have two Wednesdays to practice them.If you have suggestions – songs old or new that we can perform with confidence – send them along.

It was great to see Joan last night, and of course the rest of you too!

Here’s hoping this nice weather will continue and the smoke will blow over….

Susan

Howdy Pardner,

I reckon it was a warm one today. What a difference from what we’ve been having. I’m not even going to mention the “R” word.

We had 17 in attendance this evening.

We have our equine rescue event this weekend. It’s never too late to sign up. The song sheet PDF is on Meetup and our website.

This also includes a cookout at Lauren’s house following the event. How can you beat that!

Our resident cowgirl would like you to wear a cowboy/cowgirl hat if you have one. A bandana might work as well.

We played from another stellar PDF that Susan put together.  We finished the night with some of the non- horse songs for this weekend’s event.  Here are some comments:

Old Gray Mare – repeat the last two verses and add the word “Many” in the last line before good years to go.

Tennessee Stud -practice

Skye Boat Song – I never heard of this song but those who watch Outlander day it’s the theme song.  Listen to it when you have a chance.  We will be repeating the last line.

Was a Sunny Day – listen to it and practice

All Together Now- Practice. As Tom said, we need to be “all together now”

Country Roads – Cross out the repeat two times and the word End. Play and sing the song straight through. Bring a pencil to the Meetup Saturday and we’ll make the corrections.

Horse with No Name – end with a Dm chord.

Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys – Susan will get us started with the proper strumming pattern before we start singing it.

If I missed something please let me know.
