Hi, Jack, and hello Fabulous SUP Players,
Tonight we did some familiar fun songs and also a couple that may not have been so familiar or favorite! But this is part of what we like to do: try new things and keep it interesting. It’s not always pretty but I do hope you come away with a good overall experience. Many times the new songs end up being favorites. Sometimes we never want to see them again. But why not try?
I agree with Jack’s comment that if you don’t know the song well, you should please listen to those who are introducing it and then join in. Timing can be difficult, and your leader is math-challenged, so be patient, we will work it out. Or we won’t!
Jack and I both appreciate you all coming out week after week to join in this happy experiment! Never hesitate to give us your comments and suggestions.
Now, go outside before it rains again!
Susan

Hi Susan,
Another strange stretch of weather, I’m glad today was beautiful and this evening was even better.
We had 16 in attendance.
I’d like to remind everyone about our YouTube channel. There are many new videos posted from the Purple Porch and Equine Rescue performances.
You can find us on YouTube by searching

We played from another interesting PDF that Susan put together.
Some comments below:
Take It Easy – went well
That’ll be the Day – practice
Ukulele (spoof) – We did very well on this song. It’s just not the right type of song for the Kingston Employee Appreciation performance.
Ukulele Lady – practice
Brand New Key – practice
Was a Sunny Day – This went pretty well considering some people had never heard it. Please listen to it when you have time
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters – This needs a lot of work. Please listen to it when you have time. The general consensus was that it is a keeper.
Ape Man – let’s just say that that he went off to live in the jungle.
I feel that some of the issues we have with timing come about from people trying to sing and play without really knowing the song. When I’m not familiar with a song I try to listen to it first and then join in when I feel more comfortable. This is just my opinion and not necessarily the opinion of SUP.
The remainder of the evening was spent playing random songs.
Events:
Kingston Employees & Volunteers Appreciation Picnic at the Kingston Fire Station – June 20. Lunch is included.
Brentwood Library Summer Music Series – July 14th
Riverwoods Exeter – July 17th. Thank you Larry for your help with this.
All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th
Thank you all from coming out and being so patient. It’s always a fun evening.
Take care and enjoy the good weather while it lasts,
Jack
