Hi, Jack,
Welcome back! I’m glad you didn’t stay on the road after we told you to hit it.
I think you did exaggerate when you said the list was stellar, but at least it was interesting! There were a couple of new songs that I think are really nice, but it does help if people are familiar with them. GIve a listen if you have time. “If I Needed You” is performed by several artists including Townes Van Zandt. I recommend the Emmylou Harris version.
Thanks to Tom for stepping up to explain about the tabs on Skye Boat and Low Rider. We rarely pick out our tunes, but it comes up periodically, so it’s good to know what’s going on! Please try it at home. I find that it helps to get you more familiar with your ukulele and how the chords work.
I will be forming the lists for Brentwood Library and Riverwoods in Exeter, both coming up mid-July. Please consider joining us at either or both of these!
Thanks everyone for your continued enthusiasm and friendship! See you soon.
Susan

Good evening Susan,
Remember, you’re the one that wanted me back and I’m happy that you do.
We had 22 players this very warm evening.
It looks like the heatwave is over for at least a couple of days.
We will be at the library next Wednesday evening as usual. Please join us.
Susan put yet another stellar, I hope I’m not exaggerating, PDF together for this evening.
We started with a couple of easy songs, Moonlight Bay and Blue Suede Shoes, to warm up. Then the fun began.
Mother and Child Reunion – This went well for the first first time we ever played it. Listen to the song and we’ll continue to practice it.
Come Sail Away – We played this at Suzapalooza last summer. We also played it on the boat trip with Lauren and Tom’s son Captain Kyle. It’s a great song and seemed to go well.
Brand New Key – Tom will add a bass intro.
Sky Boat Song – This went fairly well this week. Keep practicing. Susan wants to perform it at the Brentwood library event.
Pretty Woman – Tom needs more practice time. The song will be a good addition.
Summer in the City – We certainly had this the last few days. We need to reacquaint ourselves with it. And by that I mean the heat and the song.
Let Your Love Show – listen and practice
If I Needed You – you know I need all of my uke friends, but I digress. This is another great new song that will only get better as we become accustomed to it. Thanks Tom
Deuce Coupe – Practice
Margaritaville – another summer song that went fairly well. As some of you may have heard, there’s a cat parody that goes to this song. Someday maybe we can perform it, just for fun.
Speaking of parodies, we’re way overdue for a parody evening. I’m sure most of you have a song in your head that would be perfect. If you need help getting it out of your head and on paper, let me know.
Learning to Fly – This was a request. We do a great job on this and it’s something we don’t want to let fall by the wayside.
And how could I possibly forget Low Rider. The song sunk even lower than it did the last couple times we tried it. However, Susan says it’s a fun song and she may look into revamping it to get timing issues taken care of etc.
Once again if you have any song suggestions please let us know.
Events:
Brentwood Library Summer Music Series – July 14th. Stay tuned for the song list.
Riverwoods Exeter – July 17th. Thank you Larry for your help with this.
All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th.
For more information check out how our Meetup page.
Check out our YouTube channel for videos from the Kingston Employees and
Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. It was a lot of fun and the wrap sandwiches were delicious.
I’m not going to mention the whoopie pies. Rumor is that one of our members absconded with two of them. You know who you are.
You can also find videos on our Facebook page.
Looks like tomorrow is going to be much cooler. Enjoy the break from the hot weather.
Take care of yourselves,
Glad to be back Jack
