SUP Recap 7/9/2025

Thanks, Jack,

It was another fun evening at the library – thank you all for your suggestions and enthusiastic participation. Jack, as always, thank you for your help and keeping me on track (I have to say something nice about you everytime, too).

One thing Jack pointed out to me is that on the song list printout I put on the website and Meetup, I put the time for Monday’s Brentwood performance as 2:00. It is 3:00 pm! Please show up at 2:30 to find a place to park and allow time for set up and sound checks. Those of us with equipment will get there at 2:15. If it’s your first performance, don’t worry, be happy! All you need is your uke and the music in paper form. If you don’t have a stand, you can share with someone. I will have at least one spare set of music.

Meanwhile, enjoy another lovely summer week. Keep those song suggestions coming!

Susan

PS: Happy anniversary to Marilyn and Spider!

Good evening Susan,

It was a nice break from the hot weather today. We had 20 cool cats in attendance.

Susan produced a PDF of a wide variety of music. Some old stuff and some new to us stuff. It was a fine selection as usual. Yes, I have to compliment Susan at least once per newsletter. It’s in my job description

Please Mr Postman – for some reason this tried and true song got off to a rough start.

We deferred to the Post-it Notes on the proper way to start the song. Susan is going to clarify with 1 2 3 4 Wait!

Summer in the City – went very well

Under the Boardwalk – Susan complained that the men weren’t holding up their end. Don’t worry about us Susan, we’ll be loud and proud Monday.

Annie’s Song – This went very well for our first attempt

Looking Out My Back Door – much better than last week. Susan asked Bill to add a lot of shaker to the song.  She was playing the “z” chord to help with the timing. I believe we’re playing that one at Riverwoods. We should be in good shape by then.

Do You Believe in Magic – work on the timing

Proud Mary – Practice the strum

Try to Remember – This is a great song and it went very well

Runaway – Susan is going to revise to show four beats on the [Am] at the beginning

Skye Boat Song – I think we’re ready for Monday. Great work everyone

Help Me Rhonda – for some reason we’ve developed timing issues coming out of the

instrumental.  Practice counting on each cord. I will now be singing bow bow bow instead of bow wow wow. Thank you Patty for pointing that out.

We also played some random songs which for the most part went very well.

Events:

Brentwood Library Summer Music Series – July 14th. The song list is posted on Meetup and our website

Susan will have a limited supply of SUP T-shirts available for $15 each.

Riverwoods Exeter – July 17th. Thank you Larry for your help with this. The setlist is posted on Meetup as well as our website

All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th.

Warner Ukulele Festival AKA Mighty Ukes Summer Jam II AKA Suzapalooza  II – October 4th – Warner, NH.

This year the Contookuleles will be hosting the event.  So far we have four groups on board:

The Contookuleles

SUP!

The Kukuleles

The El Trio Demers

We expect the more to sign up.

More information will be available in the coming months. The venue is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Seabrook.  Will be working on carpooling in order to have a strong turnout.

For more information check out our Meetup page.

Thank you all for being such a patient and fun-loving group.  We appreciate it.

Enjoy the rest of the week and the weekend. I hope to see some of you at the Brentwood library on Monday.

Take care,

Jack
