Hi, All –
Thank you, Jack for the thorough recap. I see I have some tasks to tend to, and I have great intentions about getting to them!
Yes, please do sign up for events you want to play at, especially the Warner event. I really do need to know who is attending because it can impact song choices. Also, information about the setlist and extra practices will be on the Meetup page. You won’t get the notifications if you are not signed up.
By the way, we don’t mean to pressure anyone to attend performances, as we realize that not everyone enjoys that part. We are happy to play with you on Wednesdays!
That said, the first practice for Warner will be at my house in Seabrook (69 Pine Street) on Monday (Labor Day) at 2 pm. I would like to run through our current choices and make a firm decision on the setlist so that we can concentrate on those songs. I think an hour or so will be sufficient, but it could depend on those ice cold alcoholic beverages.
Looking ahead, I WILL get setlists put together for Epping and for All American Assisted Living and post them on Meetup!
Please keep the Wednesday requests coming! I have one so far for next week. Don’t leave me to my own devices….
Have a great holiday weekend, and I look forward to singing with a few of you on Monday!
Susan

Good evening Susan,
We had 18 in attendance this evening.
Susan provided a PDF which included a number of songs that we are considering for the October Festival. As usual, we finished the evening with random requests.
He Played the Ukulele as the Ship Went Down – not many people have heard this song. There were major timing issues between singers. With practice, it’ll be a fun song for us. We’re thinking of cutting out some verses to make the song more manageable.
Was a Sunny Day – getting better
Get Together – Susan is planning to do this song for Pause for Peace. The next time Cindy F. comes in, we will ask her to fill everyone in on this wonderful international event.
Wilbury Twist – great song that needs a listen and practice. It’s a fun video. Susan mentioned that she needs a volunteer to hop around the room in their underwear. Are you that person?
Brand New Key – sounded great
Cecelia – we are playing the ending twice not four times. There’s a lot of great harmony. We need to continue to refine the percussion and find a volunteer to clap along with the song.
Do You Believe in Magic – practice
Groovin’ – We need to work on the oohs and ahhs
Sound of Silence – add the intro picking info.
Susan will work on the pauses and add a [G] before Whispered
Better Things – intro twice not four times. Take out the [G] at “It’s good to see you” End on a [D]
Ripple – strum each cord on the last line once
Folsom Prison Blues – We will add a bass outro
Have You Ever Seen the Rain – we’re going to scrap the key of G version and go with key of C as suggested by Bev
Hit the Road Jack – once again the women were a little too enthusiastic. Just sayin’
Susan mentioned that she is planning on having a practice for the ukulele Festival at her house Monday. She will provide more info when she sends out this newsletter.
I do have to make one correction. I stated that she would be supplying ice cold alcoholic beverages. What I meant to say is that if you bring ice cold alcoholic beverages she will serve them. I’m other words it’s BYOB. I have no idea how I made that mistake.
Events:
CCS Epping – Summer’s End Art Fair – Epping NH – September 13th.
All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th.
Warner Ukulele Festival AKA Mighty Ukes Summer Jam II AKA Suzapalooza II – October 4th – Warner, NH.
This year the Contookuleles will be hosting the event. So far we have a good mix of groups on board:
The Contookuleles
SUP!
The Kukuleles
The El Trio Demers
The Ukulele Songsters
The Port City Ukers
SNHUG
More information will be available in the next month. The venue is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Seabrook. We will be working on carpooling in order to have a good turnout.
Please check out our Meetup page for detailed information on our events.
And why you’re checking it out sign up for the weekly practices as well as the events. This helps Susan with with the planning.
