SUP Recap 9/24/2025

Good evening, Jack,

Thank you for being there and being your usual helpful self in spite of dealing with a painful tooth problem. You even had the energy to give me the business both in person and here in email land, so I guess you are doing okay.

But get better!

Speaking of getting better, Tom, we missed you. Hoping for a swift recovery for you too.

You know my real message for both of you is “be there on Saturday. I mean it.”

I admit I had some swings and misses in the list tonight. I will repeat a common theme: If you don’t like my erratic choices, you should send me song suggestions. I promise I will find arrangements and include them in the list. The only real exceptions are if I don’t know the song and can’t lead it. Or if it is the B-52’s.

Anyone at any time is welcome to come in and lead a song of their choice! Really, you can’t do much worse!

I brought back the microphone to be better heard to start songs or make announcements… if it is too loud or distracting, please do let me know.

Okay, raffles:

There is a good list of raffle items, all at $5 per ticket or 5 for $20:

  1. A starter uke plus a set of four beginner lessons offered by The Contookuleles this fall in Warner.  (Four winners.)
  2. An Enya concert uke with case
  3. A Makala soprano uke with tuner and accessories
  4. A Soprano soft-shell case
  5. A Kala hard case filled with goodies
  6. Uke music books (two sets of three)
  7. Novelty uke t-shirts (two, both size large)
  8. Elvis ukulele
  9. Tiki Uke Man ukulele wall hangers (2)
  10. A painting
  11. Ukulele sun hats (multiple)
  12. Everjoys Hawaiian Ukulele, beginner pack
  13. Maple cherry burst Kala tenor uke

I will have tickets available on Saturday and next Wednesday if anyone would like to reserve their winner ahead of time.

The new tee shirts are in and I will bring them Saturday and next Wednesday. They are $25, and I have ordered mostly medium and large, with a couple of smalls and XLs. They are the same color and design as our original blue ones, in a lighter material. If they are good we will order more.

I have probably forgotten something important, but I will just end by saying I hope those who came to the jam for their first time had fun. That is really our main goal, although we also do some practice for performances. Thank you to all of our regular players who are always so welcoming and helpful! I do try to mix easy songs with more complicated songs, but even without much experience I hope beginning players enjoy the energy of playing with a group. You will learn fast!  Every week is a little different, but we are also very open to suggestions on how we can do better.

I hope everyone enjoys the nice weather coming our way, and I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday!

Susan

Good evening Susan,

We had 21 ukulele players in attendance including a few new faces. It was another fun enjoyable evening. As most of you know Susan loves the song I Love Rainy Night. Well we’re finally getting some and it’s much needed.

If you’re looking for the songs that we played this evening, please check out our website. You’ll find them under Meetup PDF song lists.

I don’t have much to say except I have no idea how Susan came up with this evening’s songs.

I think maybe she was distracted by her new kittens.

I generally use this time to comment on the songs but since they were so random. We will see what happens next week. If Susan thinks that we need to fix something or change something, I’ll let her add it to her portion of the recap.

Events:

All American Assisted Living – Kingston – September 27th. Warner practice to follow at Rick’s house in Kingston.  You can come and play at the event, you are not required to go to Rick’s house afterwards. Everyone is welcome to sign up regardless of skill level.

Warner Ukulele Festival – October 4th – Warner, NH. Our set will begin at approximately 1:30.

This year the Contookuleles will be hosting the event. So far we have a good mix of groups on board:

The Contookuleles

SUP!

The Kukuleles

The El Trio Demers

The Ukulele Songsters

The Port City Ukers

SNHUG

HHHUG

There will be some great raffle prizes. SUP is donating an Elvis Presley Blue Hawaii themed Kala Concert Ukulele and a couple of very nice ukulele wall hangers.  Susan will be selling advanced raffle tickets next Wednesday for those who can’t make the festival.  The tickets are $5 each or five for $20. She has list of raffle items, maybe she can include them in this recap.

It’s not too late to sign up for Warner.  If there’s any issues with signing up or you don’t have access to Meetup, please let me know. I can send you an invitation.

More information will be available in the next two weeks. The venue is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Seabrook. We will be working on carpooling in order to have a good turnout.

Coppal House Farm – Lee, NH. – October 18th.

This will be a Halloween performance.

Please check out our Meetup page for detailed information on our events.

And don’t forget to sign up for our weekly practices as well as events.
