SUP Recap 1/21/2026

Hi, Jack,

thank you for another excellent recap!

I don’t have much to add at this juncture; I will incorporate the changes to the medley for the next two practices. I think we did very well tonight and that the songs will come together nicely with our practices in the small room – and with the addition of microphones at the event. The main thing is to have a good time!

We have some great raffle items, and tickets will be available on Wednesday (Marilyn take note!)

Thanks to all who have signed up to bring food and supplies!

We are working on a projector set up that will work for the Groundhog parody set as well as for the final sing-along.

All in all, preparations are going well and I expect we will have a very nice day.

On Saturday I will share the groundhog songs we may do – We have quite a catalogue to go with Jack’s new Goatherd song, and if anyone has any new masterpieces to share, now is the time!

Stay warm and healthy, please!

Bill, we missed you, feel better.

Susan

My Dearest Susan,

We had 21 enthusiastic members in attendance this evening.

We will be having another practice this Saturday, January 24th, in the Story Time room at the library from 10 to noon.  If you have your paper copies, bring them with you for last minute changes. Hopefully there won’t be any.

Susan’s started evening with a couple love songs that she’s thinking about using for Valentine’s Day practice and performances.

We then went through the Hogapalooza medley.  That went fairly well. She was able to demonstrate a few things that we were getting hung up on. I only have a few comments, if anyone has a comment or a correction please send them to Susan.

Don’t Bring Me Down – Tom will lead us in and lead us out with a bass line. Patty suggested, and everyone agreed, that we will end the song fading away on the word “down” four times.

Age of Aquarius – move the [Dm] from the beginning of the second to last line to the end of  the previous line. We will be changing the last two chords on the second to last line to [G]

Strike out the line “*this is the end of the song………”  We will now be going up on the second to last line. I’m sure Susan will be able to make some sense out of what I’m trying to say.

Her PDF finished up with some love gone bad songs.

We tried  God Only Knows again.  The chords look intimidating but Susan claims they are doable with practice.

We finished the evening with random songs including the parody Lonely Groundhog.

Events:

Hogapalooza III is on the books for Saturday January 31, 2026 at the Seabrook Library. We will have our regular space from 9 until 4 PM. We also have a snow date for the following Saturday. I we have six groups committed at this point.

Stay tuned for more information as things develop.

Information on these events can be found on our Meetup page.

As you know we are having a raffle at Hogapalooza. Jan brought in a banjolele that she is donating for the raffle. Thank you Jan.

Also, Marilyn is requesting that everyone buy a scratch ticket(s). She will mount them on a poster board. This will a great raffle prize.

I’m addict to the above, we have a Gretsch ukulele with case, a Cordoba Tenor ukulele with gig bag, a ukulele case, ukulele tree, songbooks, a microphone and stand and a number of other prizes. Susan might be able to give us a better list.

Susan is planning on selling advance tickets on January 28th. Remember you do not have to be present to win.

Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see quite a few of you on Saturday.

Thank you

Jack
