SUP Recap 2/11/2026

Thank you, Jack –

It was a fun and productive evening!

We have three upcoming events in a short time frame, so thankfully we also have our “second Saturday” practice this week.

I did put together the setlist pdfs for both the Madbury birthday performance (which follows practice on Saturday) and for the Brentwood Library evening performance next Tuesday. at 6 pm. Those lists are attached, and will also be available from the website and the Meetup post.

On Saturday we will go through as many of these songs as we can, concentrating on the newer or more challenging ones. The Madbury list in particular is likely much longer than we need – Red River Valley and This Land are two that may be dropped; we will talk about that. We will bring them all and be flexible depending on the audience and if it seems we are overstaying our welcome! LOUISE is the birthday girl!

Please sign up if you can make it on Tuesday!

Brentwood Senior lunch is still going to be a Valentine’s performance, so the list remains as it was going to be when we got snowed out.

Lastly, if you have a chance, please listen to the Austin Ukulele Society’s  performance of the Tin Pan Alley medley – you can find it on YouTube. It is a fun medley, but we struggled with the timing. Basically, the rhythm stays the same throughout; if we start Five Foot Two at a more measured pace, All of Me will be okay. I have left it in key of G for easier singing.

Thank you to Larry for your help with “It Might As Well Be Spring” – the ending part is tricky, especially for anyone not familiar with the song, so listen to that online if you can, too. Ella Fitzgerald and Bernadette Peters do nice versions, but there are others too. Note that I abridged it to take out the beginning,  and replaced the middle part with an instrumental. I did this to cut down on difficult parts, but we still do need to get together on a few of the lines.

Looking ahead: at the end of this string of performances we will have Beatles Night! Please send me your favorites and we will add them to the list.

Thanks all for coming out in the cold and participating!  See you soon –

Susan

Hi Susan,

We had 19 in attendance on this balmy evening.

In case you haven’t heard,  today’s luncheon at the Brentwood Rec was postponed until next Wednesday due to the snow.

We will have our second Saturday of the month Meetup at the library from 10:00 to 12:00.  Some of us will be leaving for the performance in Madbury directly from the library. That event has been moved up from 2:00 to 1:00.

This evening we played from a PDF that Susan put together to test songs for Saturday’s performance as well as some songs for the Brentwood Library performance. I am not going to list the songs because Susan is going to put together a PDF tomorrow and send it out to everybody.  Stay tuned.

If you’re interested in seeing what we went through this evening, go to the Meetup song tab on our website.

Events:

Birthday Performance at Carriage Hill – Madbury, NH – 2/14/2026

Seabrook Rec Festival of Trees – Seabrook, NH – 12/4/2026

Information on these events can be found on our Meetup page and our website.

Don’t forget a free lunch is available if you play at the Brentwood Rec Center this coming Wednesday.

If you like The Beatles,  you’re in for a treat. Wednesday evening will be full of Beatles songs. If you have one that’s not on our website, please send it to Susan.  Grab your Beatle wig, Nehru jacket, Sgt Pepper outfit or whatever you have hiding in the closet. And if you happen to have a sitar hanging around, bring that as well.

We will be trying out a medley that was given to us by our good friend Maryrose from the Dalkey DUKs Ukulele Klub Dalkey, Ireland.

Every Meetup is fun but this one will be so much fun that it’s going to take a plastic surgeon to remove the smile from your face.

Don’t forget to check out our YouTube channel when you have time.

Take care and enjoy the somewhat milder weather,
