SUP Recap 3/11/2026

Hello, everyone,

Jack has covered all the details admirably, as usual!

I look forward to Saturday practice (Jack, I have confirmed we have the meeting room) which will include our songs for Webster Assisted Living, on March 25 – it’s coming right up! I have that list planned, and will post it today on the website and Meetup.

I also will be posting the Riverwoods event, which will be a great time. Larry has put together a list of song suggestions based on the audience, which will be the independent residents, although the performance will be open to all. This is very helpful, thanks, Larry!

I suspect we will revisit some of the Irish ditties over the next couple of meetups – they are fun!

Thanks once again to you all for your enthusiastic participation and friendship.

Healing thoughts to Joan and to Jan H – hoping to see you both next week! Also, safe travels to Jan L and to Steve. Keep a song in your heart (and let us know if you want to hear it with ukuleles)!

Susan

Dear Susan,

I’m having trouble with my Yahoo mail this it’s coming from my Gmail.

We had 19 in attendance this evening.

Don’t forget we are meeting this Saturday at the library 10:00 to 12:00. Come one come all.

We played Irish tunes for our Pre-St Patrick’s Day celebration. But first we had to go to Africa. It was a long journey, but so worth it. With that I will segue right into my comments on the songs.

Africa – Susan made a few changes. She and Patty did a great job leading it. Some of us still had issues with the timing but I’m sure it’ll get better with practice

Red is the Rose – good song

Black Velvet Band – gets better every time

Dirty Old Town – Jack and The No Jills did a fantastic job leading this song. At least we think we did.  Thanks boys.

Galway Girl – We need to add this to  repertoire

Brown Eyed Girl – This went extremely well considering this was the first time we’ve ever played it. I believe this is going to be added to our regular playlist

Unicorn – as I said this evening the song was written by the same gentleman that wrote Cover of the Rolling Stone.  And I  believe Susan is planning on playing this at Webster in a couple of weeks.

Moonshiner – could be used if we have the right audience

Whiskey in the Jar – We do nice job on this. We could use a dedicated clapper. I’m looking at you Meghan

500 Miles – heads up, Susan changed the key

Wild Rover – We did well with this song. Thank you for leading Marilyn.

Irish Lullaby/ Irish Eyes – Big shout out to Karen S. for leading us into the song. We look forward to having you lead more songs in the future.

With or Without You – Tom suggested this song. It definitely needs work but it’s a keeper

I skipped a few songs but you can find them on our website under the Meetup song tab. Hopefully the link below will take you there.
