SUP Recap 3/18/2026

Hi, All,

Jack has covered the basics, thank you, Jack! I will be doing my best to improve our “in process” songs for next week. I will also be getting the list for Riverwoods out to all – FYI, I have been bringing forward some of those songs over the last couple of weeks to start preparing.

A big thank you to Karen for the invitation to her house in between our Webster performance next Wednesday and the regular Wednesday meetup. This will be perfect for those who won’t have the ability to get back home in between.

Please respond to me with your RSVP so we can let her know how many to expect!

We currently have 6 people signed up to play at Webster, but I know of at least two more who plan to be there– at this point, it will be helpful but not necessary for you to sign up, but do let me know if you would like to join us at Karen’s.

I don’t have much else to add – just that I had a great time as always playing music with friends. We are not perfect and don’t strive to be professional grade, but we do keep trying new things and I think that generally we are able to reach a reasonably pleasing facsimile of the original song. (I did say “generally”!) If you have suggestions of songs or ways to improve our interpretations, want to add an instrument or help with  harmony, please let me know! Wednesdays can be chaotic and I don’t hear everyone, but I am always available by email and usually by phone.

Thanks to all ! See you in the Spring!

Susan

Hi Susan,

We had 23 in attendance this evening.

Before I get into our practice this evening, I want to mention a very generous offer that we received from Karen.

Anyone who is performing at Webster this coming Wednesday is invited to stop at Karen’s house afterwards for food and conversation before heading to the library for our normal Meetup. I copied and pasted her email directly below this.

Karen Souney

33 Carolan Ave, Hampton, NH 03842

Cell 603 501 9288

Take route 1 South

At the Old Salt Restaurant in Hampton, turn right at traffic light onto Exeter Rd (rt 27)

Turn right onto Carolan Ave (there is a white and black sign that says “Glen Hill”)

My house is a beige ranch style house with a farmers porch in front.

We started the evening with some of the songs that we’re going to be playing at Webster. For the most part they went very well so I won’t get into those. However there are two that we need to make note of:

Unicorn – Bill is going to sing/speak the verses with the rest of us coming in on the chorus. At the end of the third verse we will all sing ” and take some of them”

All You Need is Love – Please work on the ending. Timing is important with the three different parts. I believe everyone understands what needs to be done.

The remainder of Susan’s PDF covered songs that we are continuing to work on for the future.

Fool On the Hill – needs practice and I believe Susan is going to do some work on it.

Africa – Susan to rework parts of this song. Once we got the strumming down things went much better. We will continue to practice this.

Friday I’m in Love – Susan will sing the portion that is currently labeled instrumental. Having that part as an instrumental doesn’t make sense.

Everybody Wants to Rule the World – getting better

Breaking Up is Hard to Do – practice

Stand – practice. Susan will fix the end and we’ll add extra E7 chords as needed.

With or Without You – Susan is thinking about adding dots for timing purposes

Jack
