SUP Recap 4/1/2026

Hi, All –

Thank you, Jack, for another finely crafted recap. It is not easy to scroll the music, play and sing, make wisecracks, and still take notes. Having mistakenly absconded with your notebook this evening, I can attest that deciphering those notes is an achievement in itself.

It was a challenging list this evening, but I believe we are developing a fine repertoire by fits and starts. Thank you all for your suggestions, help and cheerful participation. I am having a great time and the goal is for it to be fun for all, so please don’t be shy with comments. Please send your positive feedback to me; complaints are to be directed to Jack Heffernan.

We are well prepared to deliver a bang-up performance at Riverwoods – we will run through songs from that list over the next two practices while continuing to improve the newer songs.

Please consider joining us in Barrington on the 25th, especially if you have been working on some songs on your own that you would like to share. But even if you just want to listen, all are welcome.

We send hugs to Jan and Joan and wish them continued healing. We missed you this evening.

Happy April, everyone!

Susan

Dear Susan,

We had 22 in attendance on this weird weather day. Started out sunny and warm, ended up overcast and cool. But at least it was light out until after 7:00.

We practiced from another wonderful PDF created by the one and only Susan Ayer.  Comments below:

Splish Splash – originally brought out for the polar plunge. That’s been scrapped. Now we will try to add it to our regular rotation.  Needs practice

Looking Out My Back Door – Susan to darken the instrumental. This will make it easier to see on the screen.

Come and Get Your Love – new song, needs practice

If I Had a Boat – add an F chord after “boat” as needed.

Tuesday Afternoon – This went very well

I’ll Be There For You – needs work

All I Got to Do – practice

Stand – getting better

Black is Black – practice

Cry to Me – another new song. Listen to it in practice when you have a chance

La Bamba/Twist and Shout – went well. Tom would like to add a bass lead in to the “Ahs”. Correct me if I’m wrong on that Tom.

Streets of London – went pretty well for our first time. Tom and Susan have done it as a duet in the past.

If You Want to Sing Out Sing Out – listen and practice. We need to work on timing.
