SUP Recap 10/8/2025

Thank you, Jack –

And thank you all for continuing to come out on Wednesdays and encourage this often severely disorganized group to continue. Maybe disorganization is our superpower!

Tonight was really fun, and I enjoyed getting several suggestions for songs. I think both “If you Want to Sing Out” and “Touch of Gray” are going to be great songs for us. I have a couple more suggestions in the works for next week. Keep them coming; the more suggestions, the less chance I will make you sing Tiptoe Through the Tulips.

Thanks to our friend and percussionist Bill for his remarks about Warner. It really was a fun day and a very good day for our group; I am truly touched to know that people appreciate my part in leading the group, but I want to remind you all that what makes us good is not only that everyone is practicing and contributing, but that we are all having fun together. I appreciate you all and am in awe of the talent we have collected. I also love hanging out with you!

As Jack said, the other groups at Warner were also excellent, and we are thrilled to share members with Port City and SNHUG.

Moving on, remember that we will NOT be in the library on October 22. Details are on Meetup and the website: we will be at Lauren’s house for our fourth Garage Band gathering. Always a great time, thanks Lauren!

I will be posting the setlist songs for Coppal House by the weekend – but it will be similar to what we did for the Epping Art Fair; I will lean heavily on the “Play Outside” song book and add the Warner songs, a few fall -themed songs, and yes, Halloween selections. We are low on practice time, so the goal is to keep it as familiar and easy as possible. Again, please plan to play a duet or solo if you want to!

All right, that’s enough words.

One more thing: The Barrington group, BUG, is hosting an open mic this Saturday  from 1-3 at the Barrington library. I am planning to get there if I can – come on out if you are able and interested. I believe it will be all acoustic.

Okay. Good night, see you next week.

Susan

Dearest Susan,

Fall has returned.

We had quite a crowd of enthusiastic people.

There was a slight discrepancy in the count but I’m going with 29 individuals.

I think a lot of us are still riding the high of having 20 members on stage last Saturday at the Warner Ukulele Festival. We did a great job with our set list. The many hours of practice paid off. There were many excellent groups performing. The raffle prizes were fantastic and we were fortunate. to have several members win a raffle prize. In case you’re not aware, Diane won the Elvis ukulele that we donated.  And also in case you didn’t know, she squirreled it away in her car before anyone could abscond with it.

We are starting to look towards our annual Hogapalooza event for Groundhog Day. We hope to be back at the library with a longer time frame to accommodate the many different groups.  It will be here before you know it

As usual, we played from a marvelous PDF that Susan put together. You can find these on the website.

I’ll touch on a few of the songs:

If You Want to Sing Out by Cat Stevens – please listen to this and we will need to practice it if it’s going to become one of our regulars.

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down – practice

On the Road Again – listen to it and practice.  We have timing issues

For What it’s Worth – Susan to work on ending

Touch of Grey – please listen to it. It’s going to need a lot of work

We are Going to Be Friends – practice

Time to Remember – This went very well considering we haven’t played it in quite a while.

Whiskey in the Jar – Susan to fix the ending.

We ended the night with a number of random Halloween songs. If you want to see our complete list, check out that tab on our website.  We will be putting a number of these songs in the set list for the October 18th event.

Addams Family – practice

Purple People Eater – We need to figure out a good kazoo ending.

Seacoast Ukulele Players T-shirts are back in stock.  Please see Susan if you would like one. They are priced at $25. You can’t beat that with a stick.

Events:

Coppal House Farm – Lee, NH. – October 18th.

This will be a Harvest/Halloween performance. Costumes are optional but they are fun.

Garage Band 4 at Lauren and Tom’s. –  Brentwood, NH – October 22nd.  Please note this is in place of our normal Meetup at the library. If you show up at the library on October 22nd there won’t be anyone playing ukuleles there.  Everyone is invited.  A little birdie told me that it’s somebody’s birthday and there will be cake.

Susan is working on a November gig at a retirement community Methuen. More information will be posted if it works out.

Please check out our Meetup page for detailed information on our events.

And don’t forget to sign up for our weekly practices as well as events.
