Thank you, Jack,
It was a fun night, I thought! We have been working on a lot of new songs, some unfamiliar and some fairly tricky, and it seems from where I stand that everyone is embracing the challenge and showing just how much talent we have in the room. I am often surprised at how well and how quickly we can pull a song together, given my limited teaching skills! I will be trying to be more organized, and I do welcome help and suggestions on how to continue to improve.
Speaking of instruction, Jack, I apologize if you did not get your very own cheat sheet. You should maybe sharpen your elbows.
Next week we will go through the rest of the Riverwoods songs. I will bring back Don’t Bring Me Down and In My LIfe to be sure we get those back on track.I also hope to introduce a section at a time of Good Night Sweetheart (and later, For the Longest Time), assigning parts to introduce the harmonies. I don’t think we will jump right in to 4 parts, but start with two.
I believe I heard correctly that there will be the opportunity to socialize after the Riverwoods event at Larry’s home. Thank you, Larry, for helping to set up the event, plan the music, and now offer up refreshments! You are very much appreciated, and we WILL smile!
Don’t forget to keep working on memorizing at least portions of songs so you can look up from your music stand and engage with our audience! It’s a great exercise to get more comfortable with the music, too.
I hope you all have a great week!
Susan

Hi Susan,
We had 24 members in attendance this evening.
We started with some familiar songs, then songs that Susan had added recently as well as some brand new songs that were requested by members. We finished the evening with songs that we’re planning on playing at Riverwoods.
Forever and ever, Amen – Susan introduced this song with a self-scrolling music video of the lyrics. She handed out chord sheets to everybody except you know who. She hovered over her music like I was trying to cheat off her exam. Took me awhile to catch on to what she was doing but then it made sense.
We followed up with the song sheet. Definitely a keeper. Listen to the song and practice when you have time
Cry to Me – getting better, continue to practice
For the Longest Time – Not bad for our first attempt. Listen to the song and practice
Africa – getting better each time we play it
Come and Get Your Love – Susan to fix the ending.
The One I Love – practice.
Goodnight Sweetheart – listen and practice. I believe there are four separate singing parts. Susan can explain it better.
In My Life – Susan to add A chords as needed.
Don’t Bring Me Down – I really don’t know what the issue is with this song. We played it at Hogapalozza and I thought we had it down pat. Maybe Susan can explain what she wants to change.
We moved on to more Riverwood songs which went well.
