Thank you, Jack –
We had a good group this week, although it started out eerily quiet without our bass player and a few other regulars. Once we got going and survived “Paradise” it was a good time!
Big Yellow Taxi went quite well, thanks to some excellent “Shoo – bop bop bop bop” singers. I think it’s worth practicing for performances.
Fun, Fun, Fun also went pretty well, and I think with a little organization of parts and some attention to how the ending should go, will also be a good summer song.
I was surprised to be included in “Uncle Jack’s Corner” … but it was painless, and a good introduction for anyone interested in playing a song aside from our group sing. I think we should have set a good example by going up front; I don’t think anyone had tomatoes in their pocket. Maybe next time. By the way, you don’t HAVE to use the microphone to share a song, but it’s good practice. If you don’t really want to be heard, just ignore Patty’s mic lesson and stay away from the part that actually amplifies your voice.
If anyone has song suggestions to be included in next week’s practice, please send them to me! You can just send a title of a new song for me to look up, or list a few from the website you would like to revisit. I have a hectic few days coming up and left to my own devices may create a list of oddments (even worse than usual).
Have a great week, all –
Susan

Good evening and Happy Earth Day Susan,
First I want to welcome back Jan H who has been out for a while. She is rallying back. It was nice to have her with us especially since tomorrow is her birthday. I made a mistake when I said she was 38 years old, she’s going to be 39. Happy Birthday Jan.
We had a great time performing at Riverwoods this past Saturday. The after party at Larry and Jane’s was epic. Thank you Larry and Jane.
Thanks to Lauren and Tom, videos of the performance are available on the Seacoast Ukulele Players Facebook page. They will be posted on YouTube when time permits.
Jan, from the Hampton Contingent, spoke about God’s Baby Closet at the Congregational Church in Hampton. It is open year round on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 to noon. Its mission is to help young families in need of baby things such as:
Diapers
Wipes
Clothes
Shoes
Baby equipment
If you know a family in need please let them know. Thank you Jan
We played a number of songs which Susan referred to as Earth Day songs.
Paradise
Mother Nature’s Son
Big Yellow Taxi
Sound of Music
What a Wonderful World
The first four songs above are going to some work if we decide to make them part of the regular list.
The rest of the PDF was comprised of random songs that Susan picked out.
These all need practice:
Do you Believe in Magic
Just Walk Away Renee
Down by the Riverside
Better Things
Your Mama Don’t Dance
Sweet Pea
Zip A Dee Doo Dah
These need some work as well as practice:
Fun Fun Fun
I want to Hold Your Hanf
Patty took a minute to show the proper use of a microphone. She demonstrated what it sounded like when you’re off to the side as opposed to right on top of the mic where you’re supposed to be.
We also tried out a new segment called Uncle Jack’s Corner. In reality is just an open mic type where anyone can sing the song of their choice. It can be a solo, a duet as it was with Susan and me this evening, or any number of people. This is nothing formal and will happen when someone wants to volunteer.
The rest of the night we played requests. Our long-time friend Micah was in attendance this evening. He took a couple turns on the microphone.
