SUP Recap 4/29/2026

Thank you, Jack –

I look forward to another episode of Uncle Jack’s Corner next week!

Thanks to all, once again, for the song suggestions. It saved me some work, but more importantly, the more I hear from the group, the better I can keep in touch with what everyone likes and keep the meetups enjoyable for all.  There are a lot of neglected songs on the website that we don’t visit  much, and of course there are billions of songs we have never tried. As we know, there are no songs that can’t be done on the ukulele. Whether or not our efforts are pleasing is the question we try to answer every week.

I will be bringing back a few of this week’s selections for further practice, and updating songs on the website as we find discrepancies there. Often we put a song on the site that has not been vetted, or make changes that don’t make it to the website version, and only find this out when we try to play the song. I know this greatly upsets Jack’s equilibrium, so let’s keep dusting off the forgotten gems. It is an ongoing project, but a fun one. Anyone that spots an issue with a song should of course let us know, and I will be going through a few at a time myself.

Apparently we continue to be in a drought, even after all the snow and rain we have had… so I guess we will be happy for more rain. Right? The sun will come out – Tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar!

Have a great week, everyone –

Susan

Good evening Susan,

We had 26 people show up on this rather chilly evening.

Uncle Jack’s Corner did not happen this evening because the volunteer had car trouble and was unable to attend.

Susan put together a PDF that was made up entirely of suggestions from various members.  I’m not sure who suggested what but I believe that Jan L, Bill and Tom were some of the culprits. If there’s someone else and you’d like to be recognized for your contribution please let me know.

Clementine – Susan decided to post an even darker version  of the song.  Susan, if you’re going to put it to the website, please send it to Jan so that she can add the choruses

Midnight Special – verify version

Cry to Me – practice.  Susan would like to record this song next week. Apparently, one of her brothers told her that it’s not a ukulele song

Walking On Sunshine – needs a lot of practice

Try to Remember – This went very well

Let Your Love Flow – practice

House On Pooh Corner – one and done?  If not, listen to it and practice

Everybody Wants to Rule the World – Play a little faster

Peaceful Easy Feeling – Susan is to make a decision whether it’s 1-2 or 1 -2 – 3 – 4

She Loves You – practice

Let it Be – went well

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow – It was suggested that we try the Shirelles version. It’s a little faster.

Sweet Child of Mine – It went well All things considered. We need to work on the beginning and it will need a lot of practice. Not sure if Susan’s going to reformat it or what’s going to happen at this point in time

I did not touch on every song, if you have a comment please let us know
