Hi, All –
What a fun night! It was a treat to open with an episode of Uncle Jack’s Corner featuring Michelle. I will be trying that picking tab, it was perfect! Everyone please note, again, that this opportunity is open to all – just let us know if you want to do a brief “open mic” style presentation (with or without Uncle Jack) and we will be a most appreciative audience. You can choose to have us sing along, as we did tonight, or just play for us, your choice.
Thanks so much to all who suggested songs AND helped to lead them. I loved having so many people step up to the mic – at core I am a shy person horrified that I am singing out loud in public, so the more help the better! We have many lovely voices that need to be heard.
As always, it was great to have Micah in the house!
Please continue to participate, share your songs and comments, and make Seabrook Library the place to be every Wednesday.
Next week we will start to plan for the Purple House performance. Start thinking about songs you may want to do as a solo, duet or small group. This is a great venue for singing outside the box, so I will be setting it up in time frames for group songs and individuals. We have a lot to work with.
Have a great week!
Susan

Good rainy evening Susan,
We had 26 members brave the rain for a fun evening.
I want to start by commending Michelle for getting up on stage and leading Uncle Jack’s Corner with Put the Lime in the Coconut. You’ve come a long way over the last couple of years Michelle. We are looking for more volunteers.
I also want to commend Mike Dolan for taking the mic and leading LA Freeway.
Anyone in the group is welcome to lead or assist on a song. Just speak up.
Welcome back to Bev and Walter. Bev has been in Florida. There is a rumor that Walter was kidnapped by a snow bunny.
Songs:
Daydream – went well
We’ll Sing in the Sunshine – I thought this went well too.
Cry to Me – We need to continue to practice and work on the timing issues.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps – This went very well considering it was our first attempt as a group
LA Freeway – This song has a lot of potential. Listen to it and practice
Blue Moon – We played the 1930s version. Tom suggested that we segue into the 1961 Do Wop version by the Marcels.
Promises – listen to it and practice
Sweet Child of Mine – Time to work on the bass part
Make Your own Kind of Music – We had some timing issues. Susan will check the ending
Summer Nights – Susan is going to change the color of the highlighting to make it easier to see on the screen.
Blue Suede Shoes and Don’t Be Cruel – I think we rocked both of these Elvis songs Tom took the lead on Blue Suede Shoes and did a great job
Big Yellow Taxi – our Sha-ooo bop group was excellent
Hazy Afternoon – A parody that any allergy sufferer can identify with
Birth of the Blues – Great duet by Bev and Marilyn
Our good friend Micah took to the microphone to lead us in three songs. Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk the Line and Back in the Saddle Again. Micah is a great example of proper microphone presence.
Jambalaya – as most of you know Susan is no longer putting their music on the screen. People seem to be catching on and are able to play it by memory.
