Hi, Jack, Pshaw – I am a very rusty piano player, but starting to practice again and hoping to enhance a few of our songs. We will see how it goes! Thanks to all who helped lead, and special thanks to Ann and Bev for stepping up to the mic and sharing your beautiful voices. I am very happy to accept any and all help in leading the songs – sometimes it truly saves the day.I will continue to tweak Macarthur Park to make it more user-friendly. If that is possible.Looking ahead to the Creative Collective Art Fair (Purple House):I am attaching a list of likely songs to do as a group and a tentative schedule. A lot will depend on how many want to do solos and duets, so while it can be a game day decision, it will help if I have some idea who is attending and has a song or songs to share. Please do sign up on Meetup for the event, and either contact me directly or add a note in the Meetup comments if you know you want to perform on your own. This is a 3-hour performance, which is why we break it up this way. It is also very casual and a great opportunity to share songs “open mic” style, so please consider stepping out of your comfort zone!If the weather is bad, remember there is a rain date of the 31st.As to the list, it is not final – I am happy to take suggestions, and we will be practicing the less familiar songs over the next two Wednesdays.Thank you as always for your friendship and cheerful participation! I hope to see everyone next Wednesday – Susan

Dearest Susan,
Great piano playing this evening. I’m always amazed at the depth of your talent.
We had 24 in attendance this evening.
Your PDF had quite an assortment of songs. As always you can check out the PDF for the week and all previous weeks on our website:
Songs:
Mother Child Reunion – practice
Moonshadow – went well but it still needs practice
Beyond the Sea – need practice, major timing issues
Stand – went well but still some timing issues
Sweet Child O’ Mine – is trainwreck too harsh. Tom is still working on it . We will try it again
Drift Away – went well
Come Sail Away – same song but with enhanced piano work by Susan. Great job kid
Ain’t that a Shame – practice
Coconut Song – Susan brought this back so that people can practice picking. This was the extended version not the one that was used last week.
World without Love – went well
LA Freeway – getting better each time
Wild Horses – practice
Uncle John’s Band – needs work
You’re Cheating Heart – Bev said that it needed more of a country sound which she demonstrated aptly. Thank you Bev
Blue Moon – still needs practice
Sentimental Journey – practice
Friend of the Devil – This went pretty well considering it was the first time we tried it. Listen to it and practice when you have a chance.
And last but definitely not least,
MacArthur Park – Susan did a great piano intro. The highlight of the song was Ann Dolan stepping up to the microphone. She did an excellent rendition. I don’t know where this song is going to end up but if we could pull it off it would be a great performance piece.
Speaking of performances, please sign up for the Creative Collective/ Purple Porch event. It is a 3-hour event, however you can come for 5 minutes or whatever you want to do. This is completely open. It’s a great opportunity for solos, duets whatever. No one is required to do anything alone. We will have a set list but the opportunity is there. This is very laid-back. The audience is made up of mostly the artists and crafts people putting on the show.
Events:
Creative Collective – Epping, NH – 5/30/2026
Spring Village – Dover, NH – 6/22/2026
Webster at Rye – Rye, NH – 7/29/2026
Play at the All American Assisted Living – Kingston, NH – 8/29/2026
Plumfest – Plum Island, MA – 9/12/2026 rain date 9/13/2026. The application has been submitted. Susan will be posting the event on Meetup in the very near future
Webster Ukulele Festival 2 – Warner. NH – tentatively scheduled for 10/17/2026
South Berwick Library Performance – South Berwick, Maine – 11/14/2026
Seabrook Rec Festival of Trees – Seabrook, NH – 12/4/2026
Looks like we’re going to have a couple days of rain then a stretch of nice weather. Enjoy it and we’ll see you next week.
Thanks
Jack
