Hi, Everyone, and thanks, Jack!
What a day! I do endeavor to not overload us with performances, but here we are with two weeks in a row of double -header Wednesdays. But we made the Webster folks very happy today, and it is always a fun time to play for seniors. Thanks to all who came out and made it a success. Next week, we play at 10 am in Rochester at Birch Healthcare. Please arrive at 9:30 if you can make it. They asked for us specifically and I know it will be a great time.
As Jack mentioned, we have cleared with the library to hold practice next Wednesday from 4 pm to 5 pm, after which we will 1.) eat pizza (5:30), 2.) play along with the ukulele students as they play “You Are My Sunshine” (5:45) , 3.) Play Jambalaya with the kids, 4) Stick around to see if there is a half hour at the end to talk/practice a little more. At that point we will be preparing for the “Patio Party” at Riverwoods on Aug. 9 – which, trust me, you do NOT want to miss! I am finalizing the setlist to post tomorrow.
My apologies to everyone for arriving at practice late, sodden, flustered, and confused about everything from what birthday the nation is celebrating to the time of day. But I believe it was an overall fun evening. Just don’t ask me how many full moons you can have in one month. However, it was a great time as always – thank you all for the good humor and friendship. Special thanks to Spider, the best tin sandwich player in the East, or probably anywhere. He will be playing with us at Plumfest, but he is encouraged to join us anywhere, any time. You know I mean it, Spider, don’t make me beg.
Please remember that your song suggestions are always welcome. After next week, I am considering standing in front of the group during practice, to make it easier for me to hear all of you, and for conversations about timing, etc., to be heard by all. I will ask anyone with corrections to the songs to come up to the mic. I will also welcome any and all help with leading songs, or for stepping in to lead an entire Wednesday with your own “guest mix”. Our group continues to grow, and we need to take advantage of all the talent in the room!

We had 22 members in attendance this wet dreary evening.
Please Note, next week we’ll be starting at 4:00. This is especially important for those who are playing at Riverwoods. At 5:30, the library’s summer reading program festivities will start. We will be performing with the kids for one or two songs and possibly playing a couple more on our own. We may be able to continue our practice after the celebration. Of course that is subject to change and completely voluntary.
We had a very nice performance at Webster. The residents loved it. A lot of them sang along with some or all of the songs.
Tonight we played some of our newer songs, practiced some of the songs for next Wednesday at Birch Healthcare in Rochester.

Bring Me Sunshine – We had some technical difficulties with Spider’s wireless set up. Those were resolved and things will be back to normal next time we practice this.
Devil and the Deep Blue Sea – practice

Rock and Roll Music – went well. It helped and I remembered to scroll to the second page

Your Mama Don’t Dance – Jack will work on his timing
Build Me Up Buttercup- for the first time in about 3 years there was timing issues with the intro. Keep in mind that the first G7 is strummed rapidly with one strum on the next G7
Blue Sky – Susan will add dots
